Anyone find more capabilities of Circle dock?
« on: February 06, 2010, 03:26 AM »
OK, I've been messing with the program to see what you can do with it and here is my current set up.

Capture.JPG

but I'm wondering what else can you do with this program?  :tellme:

I thought I'd ask because everyone has their own ideas of what to do with it and I wanted to see if there are some truly amazing things you can do with it...

well done...I like the use of the Enigma skin from Rainmeter and the color flow of the background.

I am going to tease a bit here: Can you tell me what you are looking at in the Circle Dock???

Now I will tell you that I am using 3rd party add=ons for these functionalities....If that helps.

Here's one for us old timers.....This particular add-on goes all the way back to the very early days of XP and late windows 98
I submit this as an alternative to Not Only Stacks (Which is a glorious add-on unto itself), but also the ability to create a custom menu, and skin-able to boot

Here is CD with another 3rd party app.
Make my Icons go away....
There is a reason my desktop always looks good, and that is because the mess is hidden.

Since I know many will not believe with out seeing, here is a short 8 second video

For a better detail and better picture, you may see the video via Vimeo here:

Sorry I havn't responded we got hit with a huge snowstorm and everything was a mess (and still is  :P). but anyway i think i have seen that application before but i have no idea what it is at all it looks really cool. The only thing I have close to that is 7stacks.
It's only downside is that I have to keep my dock close to the taskbar because that is where it pops up.  :(

I will take it you are point out teh second of my postings (???)

That being the case: It is a really old program that still works like a champ. Albeit I would like to see some updates to it....being that it is almost 7 years since its last update.

It is KK Menu version 2.80
It is a bit of a pain to set up, but once done OMG!
Skin-able, comes with a manager and skinner
There is almost nothing in right clicking , but it comes with a decent tutorial
The initial skin is very retro, but the one I am using is Smoked skin and there are dozens more available through Wincustomize, DevianyArt and Rocket dock

I will eventually be doing a Tutorial for it

-Archon of Fate (February 09, 2010, 04:57 PM)

Pretty damn close....
Rainmeter is actually a clock.
What you are seeing is a series of Winamp controls that operate Wiamp via a really old third party Command Line tool called Clamp.exe
Built up one Icon at a time  :P

I will be doing a tutorial on this to be sure.

For those of you that love FooBar2000, do not fret...I think I have a little something worked out there to, especially since I am dropping Winamp after over a decade of use. If I get this properly ironed out, I will be doing a tutorial on this as well

Hello, everybody.

I made my account wanting to know how did Archon of Fate made the modifications shown in his first post.
I know he is using Rainmeter and multiple instances of Circle dock, but can you post some hints?

I would like to know:
 - does rainmeter show up only when you hit the button for Circle dock? Or do you just have it on your desktop and arranged it nicely for the pic
 - does rainmeter follow circle dock anywhere it appears? (I'm asking about the Arcs, because it would be nice to have the arcs appear in the center of the dock where you "summon" it)
 - can I make multiple instances of circle dock appear next to each other when i click a single button?

This one is for sgtevmckay:
 - how can I make the clock inside my Circle dock like you have?

And, the last one:
 - where can I find addons that work with Circle dock and how do I install them? (I mean, how can i make an app work only when called by circle dock?)

Thank you.

Greetings XXL007
Welcome to DonationCoder.com and Circle Dock's forums here.

Rainmeter is a completely different software from Circle Dock, and unfortunately has no way to be "anchored" to Circle Dock or it's activities
getting the clock in the center of Circle Dock, while Circle Dock is locked to it's location is simple. I place the Rainmeter skin to Bottom and Circle Dock to Z-Level of Normal, and then move the two items individually until I have them placed appropriately

As for Application Control:
This is greatly based on the programs capabilities, beyond just being able to create a shortcut.
as in FooBar200 There is a very extensive list of Command Line options, so it is easily controlled.
Winamp has several third party tools that Circle Dock can utilize to control it.

So it is a matter of the program and it's extensional capabilities.

Any programs in particular???

As for how to set them up...I have not covered that Via Tutorial as of yet....I have been working up to it as time presents itself

Well, I was hoping that Rainmeter could be linked with Circle Dock.

I use my Circle Dock unlocked (where I click my mouse, that's where it appears), and I was hoping that I could do something like this:

When I press my button to summon Circle Dock (anywhere on the screen) the following things would appear next to my mouse (on top of all my windows and everything):
 - Circle Dock
 - Rainmeter Arcs in the middle of Circle Dock
 - 2 other Circle Docks on the sides (like in Archon's pictures)
 - other Rainmeter "gadgets" on top / bottom (like HDD space or CPU / RAM)

That is what I was hoping to achieve.

On an unrelated note:
I have attached my ini files for Arcs, maybe some of you would like to have a minimal Arc (i have eliminated the big circle and modified some things here and there).
It's pure black and white, and when you switch it (with middle mouse button) it's white and black.
What have I done:
 - eliminated the outer circle (actually made it invisible)
 - removed the 3 rings (seconds, minutes, hours)
 - put the CPU bar in place of the minutes bar (the inner most ring that you see in the picture)
 - put the RAM bar in the place of the hours (the second ring that you see in the picture)
 - removed the seconds line
 - made the minutes and hours lines smaller
 - made the day and month bar longer (to the top)
 - removed all the other bars: power and whatever was left

Hi XXL007. I followed what Sgtevmckay said earlier in which i set arcs to bottom and cd to normal...
I have no idea about the mouse button thing though I like having my docks up all of the time so I don't use that option at all, in fact I have then all set to none.
yeah rainmeter complements cd very nicely

I do have a question though would it be possible to have a clock run in the center of cd, but then again you could just get rainmeter and avoid all of the frustrations of programming a clock in cd....

What you said gave me an idea:
 - can you program Circle Dock to show only the icons on the desktop ( I mean without folder stacks, just when i summon circle dock I would have all my desktop icons on there )
 - it's like the first thing you see in circle dock is only the contents of the desktop folder
and
 - can i organize my icons like this:
 - - on the first ring i want to have 5 icons
 - - on the second 8
 - - on the third 10 ... etc
 - I mean I don't want to choose an exact amount of icons per ring, and I don't want to choose the maximum amount for the rings. I want to say: ring 1 has 3 icons, ring 2 has 5 icons, ring 3 has 10 icons etc.

Sounds as though we have a chemist in our midsts ;)  well, not the exact electron ring count, but that would be aninteresting adaptation for CD.  Make the images like an Atom.. hrmmm.....

I would use that feature mainly for sorting purposes. For example:
 - ring 1: Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari etc... (internet stuff)
 - ring 2: Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Lineage etc... (gaming stuff)
 - ring 3: Putty, WinSCP, TeamViewer etc... (admin stuff)
 - ring 4: Total Commander, Paint, Notepad, Task Manager etc... (Windows stuff)

And so on, understand?

Your idea of an atom is mainly for design purposes  :) Good thinking  ;)

You can do that already, drag-and-drop.

Hmm, maybe you understood me wrong here, or maybe I'm the one not getting the idea but i don't want to see my desktop icons again (more or less) so what I want is, lets say, if I download something to my desktop, a zip file for example, the file wont appear on my desktop because the icons are hidden, but when i would access Circle Dock it would appear there on the bottom level, automatically and without stack docklet.

If I am square-headed and I can already do that, please give me more hints. But I don't want to drag and drop icons to CD every time I download something.

The same idea could be applied for any other folder.
