Naming and tagging MP3 files from a PDF?
« on: January 04, 2006, 11:47 AM »
A client has sent me several hundred MP3 which are all untagged and have the file names in the format Track001.mp3

They also included an index of the files as a PDF file, which contains a table laid out as follows...

Track | Sound  | Duration | Description
001   | 1      | 0:32     | Various Finger clicks
002   | 1      | 0:10     | Cat miaow
etc...

Is there any tool sophisticated enough to rename the tracks with their Track number and Description?

To complicate matters further some Tracks contain multiple sounds...

Track | Sound  | Duration | Description
013   | 1      | 0:59     | Hiss (close-up)
013   | 2      |          | Hiss (muffled)

Thanks for help in advance,

Ampa

i'd say the first step would be extracting the pdf info into plain text -
once you get that done it should bw possible.

TGF can tag files based on text copied to the clipboard. I don't know how well it'll work, but it's worth a try. If the info gets parsed into the wrong tags it would be easy to re-arange the tags afterwerd.

Go into the "Online" panel and hit the "Get tracks from clipboard" button.
