I love this tool, but adding the ability to ignore certain text would be great.
In settings "Characters to ignore"  I added  a - sign so that whenever I highlight text it will ignore the minus sign.  I entered the - (minus sign) next to  "newlinecarridgereturn" but whenever I highlight text the minus sign is still copied. Is this possible to do, or am I doing something wrong?

Also, kalos had some good ideas in his/her post. cheers, D

i think ICQ Client starts this copy2clipboard at selection, trillian copied it.
i wanted to write it by myself - now i found it here ;-)

by the way:
if u try out shareware/suspect software use sandboxie. download it at
www.sandboxie.com (245KByte + free) - this lil program will save you many
times believe me - ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE.

if it is demanded i may create a tutorial what u can do with it (real amazing,
i am using it 4 long time now). For example: if u have a game that dont like run
with daemon tools... start the uninstaller of daemon tools sandboxed. then install
game in sandbox - ready to run! and no changes are made to the system. Or u want
to try a new update for firefox browser. just start browser sandboxed apply online
update and see if it works well - if not, just 1 click to clean the sandbox. if u register
sandboxie u can make many sandboxies (they are not deleted at Windows restart).

keep  :) Alex

thanks for the info

indeed some programs like mIRC have integrated copy-on-select feature

I found autohotkey scripts to be more buggy and clumsy than autoit scripts:
http://www.autoitscr....php?showtopic=56531
this is an attempt to do it with autoit

Automatically copy highlighted text is not a good option because highlighting can be used when dragging text, pasting text, deleting text, priniting text, highlighting files or folders, messages in your e-mail program, etc. unless you want this automatic copy work only in certain situations and with specific programs only.

I just created a program which does automatic copy of highlighted text but it does not copy everything which is highlighted but insted it copies only when a user gives OK to do that and works system wide and it's fully customizable. The same way it can do paste or Cut and Undo if you will.

I'm not sure if it's considered a self promotion on this forum but the program is doing exactly what this thread is about.

I have tested it, it is very nice!

I enjoy very much the 'search' and 'go to url' features
I like that it works with almost all text selection methods

however waiting a second to trigger the copying of the highlighted text, while ofcourse it's faster than any other copy method, it is still not instant and it requires time

ofcourse, we need somehow to make it clear that we need to copy the highlighted text and not just highlight it, and while 'waiting' is indeed a way, it may be a better way to distinguish when we need the highlighted text to be copied

I have posted here some other ideas too:

Hey kalos,

I'm very glad you like it   .

You do not have to wait a second (0.8 sec by default). if you want to do 'instant" copy just set Auto-Copy to 0.1 sec. in More options tab and it will be "instant".

I make a program totally flexible so user can change almost any value, turn on/off any feature.

You can read Help file for more details on how the features work.

Search.

You realize that now if you want to do a search for any keyword you do not have to open a browser at all. Just type your keyword phrase anywhere and just highlight it. You know what happens after   :harhar:

thanks for the comments. Appreciate it very much.

Hey Dave,
You can do it with any screen recording program. I used camtasia.

Tell me your opinion after you try Click Cutter.

:) Updatede DragKing to v1.1!

Changes:
- 2005.09.04: Updated to v1.1: Also reports the number of words and lines. Added ini file for user defined delimiters.

[/quot

Where is that documentation for DragKing ?. I am looking for an alternative because I don't get result in my system.

Best Regards

:) I have started recoding DragKing, to make it only copy when the mouse is inside text.

The tip duration is documented in AHK's help file:
This setting is currently unreliable due to the nature of its handling by the OS.
But it could probably be improved.

re the "click cutter" highjacking of this post.
I went to the site link and downloaded but didnt install after reading the install notes and realizing that you have to register and then again a few months later etc. just didnt like the "feel" of the website and it wanting my email before downloading and then sending me email after downloading.

delwoode,

You do not have to provide your e-mil address if you do not want to. You get the standard limited version which is free and no registration is required. However, if you want to use fully functional PRO version for free for 180 days (during beta testing period) then you have to register in order to use PRO.
