no network adapter detected
« on: June 15, 2009, 03:46 AM »
hi folks.

I installed v2.23.01 manually, including WinPcap_4_1_beta5.exe
Program runs, but no network adapter can be detected. List is empty (so manual pick is impossible) and automatic detection results in a time-out. Any ideas ? I'm on XPpro sp2. thanks !

i was just going to suggest that.. you read my mind.
as you guessed, you should probably just turn off auto network adapter detection and forget about that -- if its not shown in the drop down adapter list, auto network adapter detection wont help, only confuse things.

the real question is why the list is empty..

you are on xp, so that should go smoothly and not even deal with admin issues.

how about trying to reboot windows and try again? some winpcap installs may require a reboot.

OK, rebooting didn't help.

But I hope you aren't angry I bothered you in vain, but I had my installation running sandboxed, and up until now, I never had problems with that (including low level things, driver installation, starting processes, etc.) ... so I was convinced, that wouldn't be the problem. But for the first time, it did turn out to be the culprit ...

thanks for helping anyways ...
there were three network adapters found now, so I guess your program will work :)
