v1.0.7 is wonderful! Very easy and smooth for keyboard control. :-* Thanks, skwire!

You're welcome.  Happy to accommodate.   :)

The Duplicate Meter function is very useful. For example, I use a customized off-white background for all meters; with Duplicate I don't need to configure that color for every new meter.

That's exactly why I added that feature for you.

F5 works well for Show/Refresh. I'll embarass myself :-[ by revising my own suggestion to something like Ctrl+R instead, to fit with the other shortcuts Ctrl+N, Ctrl+S, and Ctrl+D (for example, one could save and refresh with the sequence Ctrl+S, Ctrl+R).

Added in the latest version.  I left the F5 hotkey in place as well.

v1.0.8 - 2013-02-08
+ Added Ctrl+R hotkey for displaying the meters.  (Thanks, Scott_Y)

Wow, customized service! That's a creative way to get around the limitations of the color-picker module.

Everything is working great in v1.0.8. Thank you very much!

Ctrl+R is turning out to be a very natural shortcut to refresh.

One helpful feature of the Percentage column is that it dynamically updates when the values for Number or Total are changed. Very, very nice.

I sorta, kinda, maybe had a feeling that, if I didn't write it that way, you'd probably request that it do so.   :P  LOL.

Heh, heh... what in the world gave you that idea?!  ;D Maybe that should be called "preemptive programming."  ;)
Again, thanks for the excellent improvements.

Small bug in 1.0.8 -- If I am editing any of the boxes (Title, Type, Number, Total) and use the Delete key, a dialog appears: "Remove meter? Yes/No."

I haven't lost any data since probably version 1.0.6 (six weeks of use). So that problem appears to have been fixed. :)

However, in 1.0.9 (and possibly earlier versions), the action of the setting "Clicking the tray icon" sometimes spontaneously changes upon restart. I have set it to the second of the two options in the dropdown menu, "Shows the configuration window." But it may unexpectedly start with the first option instead, "Shows the meter bars." I suspect that is because when the Options tab is opened, that box is already active (highlighted). I therefore have the uneasy feeling that it is not really "set." I think it should not be active unless I click on it, and once I have selected an option, it should no longer be active.

Barbecue is helping me tremendously to stay on track through a tedious and boring job of proofreading a 976-page document. The meter bar gives me a sense of progress which I don't get from my slow advancement though the document itself. Thanks, swkire!

Bug in 1.0.9: If the Options tab is displayed, Ctrl+S toggles the setting of the "Clicking the tray icon" box. This might be related to the bug I reported above on March 2, 2013.

No problem! There's also a different issue which I sent to you by email. Thanks!

Bug in 1.0.9: If the Options tab is displayed, Ctrl+S toggles the setting of the "Clicking the tray icon" box.

This isn't a bug so much as it is default Windows behaviour for a dropdown control.  Pressing 'S', Ctrl+S, or Shift+S does an automatic search within the dropdown control for items starting with an 'S'.  It just so happens, in this case, that both entries begin with an 'S'.

Thanks for the explanation. So the source of the problem is that the "Clicking the tray icon" box is highlighted when the Options tab is opened. If that were not the case, Ctrl+S would not search within it.

If you want, I could manually set the focus to another control within that Options tab.

How about no controls focused? I was thinking that is the normal state for control pages.

v1.1.0 - 2013-03-29
+ Added ability to add a separator between meters.  These show up as blanks
in the meters display as well.  You can use these creatively to group
meters in the meters display.  (Thanks, Scott_Y)
+ Main form is now resizable.
    * Switching to the Options tab doesn't focus any of the controls within the
      tab.  (Thanks, Scott_Y)
! Meters weren't displayed correctly under certain scenarios.  (Thanks, Scott_Y)
    ! Up/Down controls weren't re-enabling properly when a meter was selected.

Where are Barbecue meter files stored (Constant Crash at 50% CPU)?
« Reply #94 on: September 15, 2014, 08:07 PM »
Love the program, but it ALWAYS crashes after a few days at most, while taking up 50% of CPU. Every time it crashes, it loses all the meters. Everything. This on Windows 8. If I can back up the meter file, I can maybe get around this--though of course it would be best not to use that CPU and crash! Thanks for any help...

I had to Google what Software you was talking about (This is a generic forum area)

You might have more luck by posting this thread into: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=17814.0

Posting it just here may result in nobody of use ever spotting it.

Hi, jaymar, and welcome to the DonationCoder forum.  I'm sorry you're having issues with Barbecue.  Do you mind if I merge this topic with the main Barbecue thread that Stephen referenced?  We can continue our discussion there.

Thanks; this didn't show up for me yesterday. Sooo--can you tell me how to find the meter file so I can back it up? (Not seeing BBC in Program Files.) Redoing a half-dozen meters every time BBC crashes (which is always) is getting old. Love it when it's working--but this is a major issue...
