Remapping F-keys (f1-f12) shortcuts
« on: October 12, 2008, 03:52 AM »
Hi there,

I'm looking for a very simple program which can do the following:

- Set shortcuts on keys f1 to f12, overiding what it does in windows.
- Shortcuts to Programs and Folders
- Shortcut to volume up down and mute.
- Nice Layout
- Windows XP Systray Icon. Like the keyboard icon, from where you can run it.

How much will it cost btw to let someone make this app?

Thanks for you input. I gave it a look, and yes, the layout sucked. I would like to have it a little more accessible. Can someone write one for me?

I'm pretty sure there's a good-looking key remap utility, I just can't remember its name!
It even resembles the mac interface, and shows you your whole keyboard and the application associated with each keystroke.. Does anyone know what I'm referring to?

http://majorgeeks.co.../KeyTweak_d4161.html   looks like another option, not nearly as good looking but its a lot smaller.  Maybe worth a try.

The Wonderful Icon can do everything you want. I used it for years, but then I found Autohotkey... ;-)

The Wonderful Icon 2.2 is a small Windows utility that resides in your PC's taskbar tray. Try it and you'll be hooked!

TWI has lots of wonderful features. With it, you can:

Assign hotkeys for common tasks such as minimize windows, restart Windows, etc.
Minimize programs onto the taskbar tray instead of just onto the taskbar, either by a keystroke or by right-clicking a window's Minimize button with your mouse
Configure a menu of easily-accessible commands
Increase or decrease speaker volume with the press of a button
Automatically run programs at start-up, and hide them, minimize them to the taskbar tray, etc.
Lots more!
Oh yeah, and it's free!
