URL Snooper 2

Hi,

CBS news short movies. They must be flash.flv
Before each news movie there is some advertisement.
I have tried to get the link of for this movie

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4458203n

Here's the unsuccessful result (click for the full size photo)

I don't find a tutorial (but the official flash presentation).
Not sure about the limitation/possibilities of URL Snooper.
If you are more knowledgeable than I am, and if you get the link of this movie by example, thank you to share with me.

Glad if I can get some pointers  :)

I did another try today still without success.

Here is the movie URL: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4431002n

Here is a print screen

What I did:

Open URL Snooper
Enter the URL in Manually scan an URL
Open in a Browser
Sniff Network

Is that correct?
Can you get the URL yourself?

I have read the help file and watch the movie. I know the functions of URL Snooper 2, but I can be wrong in the steps or missing one? I appreciate some help for more experienced users.

Thanks

I just got the movie out of the internet cache and its URL is  http://progressive.c...m_4_3_TV_-_30fps.flv  which I can't open directly but can save from the cache.

There are various programs and add ons to browsers out there that let you look at the cache in an easy way.

I'm sorry, I don't use URL snooper so I can't help directly with that

Thank you for the answer Grorgy :)

However the movie is of little importance here, it is more a study case using CBS News + URL Snooper. I did another try maybe successful this time. Re-reading the help file, I only had to open a web site and push sniff :-[  Here s the link: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4468746n

URL found with URL Snooper: http://progressive.cbsig.net/video/6ce64adfa611c107b5fa7391c3da2859/1222731785/flv/CBS_Production/Newspath_BoatCrash_0922.flv

Can anybody give it a try and confirm if it is correct?

When I copy and past the URL into Oribt download manager to download the movie, there is the following repeated message: Connection Close. If I use the same URL in the address bar of the browser, it also returns an error message. Does that mean some stream content are protected and cannot be downloaded? Is there a workaround.

Many Thanks

URL Snooper doesnt work very well with flash movies because of the way the flash player communicates with server and generates the urls for the streams.

Hi mouser,

Thanks for the feedback. I am still in the vague. No matter what soft I try: URL Snooper or Oribt downloader, I cannot download this short movie, however both applications return the same and unique URL for a given news flash movie.

I wonder if the reason is technical (your answer) or if it is a protective measure from this server (every News providers?)

I have no problem finding URL of flash movies and downloading them when they come from google or youtube, etc. URL Snooper returns their URL with almost 100% accuracy, as does Orbit downloader and they are Flash Movies.

This is really no my domain, but I am glad to get some knowledge. Thanks :)
