Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 8 is available at http://circledock.wi...ebugAndTranslate.zip for the language translators and for people who want to grab it early. This is not listed on the Circle Dock website yet and I haven't written up the change log for it. Note that you will need updated language files. I have included the updated English.ini file in the Languages folder and I hope the language translators see this message.

The previous language files are included but the language translators will have to update the lines that show ?????, which indicates a new translation is needed.

I try to testing this version now, and have one problem is in general section, when I set the "Z - Level" to 'Topmost or Normal' first, and than set again to 'Always on Bottom' and the Circle Dock will eat many CPU usage 70% - 95% and doesn't fall down.

I know you released this version early first for translate the language files, but I try all this first and also have another problems.

1.) In the add blank icon, such as add notepad: when I already choose the current icon image, selected target link, type the name and click close to add icon, it won't show the name and my current icon image just is default icon and name, but only way is restart the Circle dock the name and icon will change.

2.) Drag n Drop icon better take the program target link not take desktop shortcut link.

Hmm, I'm not seeing the high CPU usage on my end but for point (1), I was debugging the program and forgot to uncomment some code to make it update live. I will fix this for the official release. For point (2), I'll see if I can get it to seek the target from a shortcut but I didn't think about doing that before.

Ok, I've just tested the Z-level thing on a virtual machine using Windows XP Pro SP2 and I'm getting that sustained high CPU usage but it doesn't do it on my Vista machine. I'll see what the problem is.

This is a very weird problem. It seems to only affect XP machines and not Vista ones. Maybe I will just have to take out the Always on Bottom option.

Yes, take out it on Alpha 8 version first, when you already fixed this problem and put it back to Alpha 9 version.

The icons fade away as you click on them? That's something I have not seen yet and I can seem to reproduce it on XP or Vista.

Hello, in the Circle Dock folder is a sub folder called "Languages". You can make a copy of the English.ini file and translate it to a language of your choice. You can then select the new language file from the Settings Panel of Circle Dock.

Thanks, there appears to be a problem with the unicode support of the ini file reader used for Circle Dock because I can't see the Chinese characters in Circle Dock. I'm going to check out why the unicode isn't working and post back.

I want to say that on the copy of Alpha 8 I have on my computer, I have added the ability to run multiple instances of Circle Dock on the same computer at the same time. Some one requested this feature and it is now working. You will be able to run multiple instances by just copying the Circle Dock folder as many times as you want. The program will prevent you from running more than one instance of Circle Dock from one folder to prevent saving over your settings from more than one dock.

Also, I would like to announce that I have fixed the unicode incompatibility bug with the ini file reader I'm using for Circle Dock and I can definitively confirm that I can see both the Russian and Chinese characters in Circle Dock with no problems. The original AMS.Profile.dll I was using to read the ini files is from an open source project but the author did not code it to work with unicode and I had to modified it.

i save the ini file as ansi encoding. if change to unicode or utf8 encoding maybe OK. (you can use notepad)
in my PC, i can see that correct as ansi encoding.

circle dock is a great idea, i like it very much.

i've translated the language (for 0.9.2 alpha 8 ) into Bahasa Indonesia, hope it useful.

i see there is much improvement from the previous versions, but in this versions (0.9.2 alpha 8 ), i still can't add special link like "My Computer", "Recycle Bin", etc. I've tried using registry argument for target (i.e, ::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D} for My Computer), but still doesn't work either. Anyway, this version is more usable than previous versions. good job Eric

I'm loving the new update. I don't know if this has been requested before, but It would be nice to change the icon size based on which layer its in, for multi layered rings. Have smaller icons towards the centre and larger icons on the outside.

That can be done easily. Maybe I'll do that as a minor update for Alpha 8 while I code the major animation/performance revisions for Alpha 9.

Thanks! I love the one with the wings. I can see people into goth or bikers using it.

I'll put them in for Alpha 8 tomorrow. I'll make up some screenshots with those backgrounds and put them on the Circle Dock homepage. Unless you already have some screenshots with your backgrounds in them?
