Help? Circle Dock not launching properly
« on: September 07, 2008, 01:44 PM »
I'm not sure if I checked a box I shouldn't have, but when I launch Circle Dock and click on the shortcut icons, nothing launches, regardless of what the shortcut links too (unless it's a dock folder). I have to right click, then use the Open option to actually run applications.

Is there any way I can configure CD so that it launches applications on left-click?

Left clicks should launch whatever the icons point to. There is no option to turn this off. Perhaps you are slightly moving the icon when you left click and Circle Dock is interpreting this as a movement of the icon instead of a click. Try going to the Settings -> General and increase the Click Sensitivity value and see if that helps.

It no longer tries to move the icons. I get the hourglass cursor, but nothing happens for both folders and files.

only the RightClick-Open function works.
Is there any way I can map that to left-click?

Nevermind, I've been running my computer without a reboot for weeks and Vista was getting a little cranky with the programs I had up and running. There is no problem with Alpha 7.6 launching programs on my computer.

Has the problem always occurred for you? Perhaps you can upload a copy of your Settings directory inside the Circle Dock folder and I'll try running that on my computer to see if it's a problem with your settings?

The problems are consistent.

I'll just post the four txt files here so it's easier

I've looked over those files and tried running them on my computer and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. What operating system do you have?

Perhaps try Alpha 7.5: http://circledock.wi...ock0.9.2Alpha7_5.zip

There was a slight change in the way it executes shortcuts but nothing that should be causing problems.

hmm, 7.5 doesn't work either.

Is there any way to map the right-click -> "Open" command to left-click on the icons?

Sorry, that's not possible. That is the right-click menu and can't be mapped.

This is the first case I've heard of like yours. I'm not sure what I can do at this point if the dock runs properly otherwise. Perhaps we'll have to wait and see if others have the same problem.

perhaps the problem is not my circledock but the applications? I've been using shortcuts, perhaps I should just link straight to the application?
That doesn't seem to be the issue either

Are there any error messages that pop up?

Could one of you download http://www.microsoft...com/express/vcsharp/ and use that to run (in debug mode) the Circle Dock 0.9.2 Alpha 7.4 source code found at: http://ericw.dcmembe...ha7.4_SourceCode.zip

This should help to pinpoint what is happening by providing an error message when there is something unhandled.

For what it's worth, I see exactly the same problem. Apps, dragged on to the wheel, do not launch on left click. Right click/Open does start them. Only thing showing on a left click is an hourglass icon for a second or two.

A folder works fine.

What OS do you have and what version of .Net do you have on your computer? Also, what is the native language used by your operating system?

Below is the code used to launch the links for each of the icons:
Code: C# [Select]
  1. if (Path.StartsWith(@"::{"))
  2.             {
  3.                 Pinvoke.Win32.ShellExecute(IntPtr.Zero, "open", Path, "", "", Pinvoke.Win32.ShowCommands.SW_SHOW);
  4.             }
  5.             else
  6.             {
  7.                 try
  8.                 {
  9.                     System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo ProcInfo = new System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo(@Path);
  10.                     ProcInfo.UseShellExecute = true;
  11.                     ProcInfo.WorkingDirectory = null;
  12.                     ProcInfo.WorkingDirectory = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(@Path);
  13.                     Win32.Shell32.ShellExecuteInfo ShExInfo = new Win32.Shell32.ShellExecuteInfo();
  14.                     ShExInfo.fMask = Constants.ShellExecuteInfoConst.SEE_MASK_INVOKEIDLIST | Constants.ShellExecuteInfoConst.SEE_MASK_HMONITOR;
  15.                     //ShExInfo.dun.hMonitor = Pinvoke.Win32.MonitorFromPoint(Cursor.Position, (uint)Pinvoke.Win32.MONITOR_DEFAULTTONEAREST);
  16.                     ShExInfo.hwnd = (int)System.Diagnostics.Process.GetCurrentProcess().MainWindowHandle;
  17.                     ShExInfo.lpFile = ProcInfo.FileName;
  18.                     ShExInfo.lpDirectory = ProcInfo.WorkingDirectory;
  19.                     ShExInfo.lpParameters = ProcInfo.Arguments;
  20.                     ShExInfo.lpVerb = "open";
  21.                     ShExInfo.nShow = 1;
  22.                     ShExInfo.cbSize = System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.SizeOf(ShExInfo);
  23.                     Win32.Shell32.Shell32API.ShellExecuteEx(ShExInfo);
  24.                 }
  25.                 catch (Exception)
  26.                 {
  27.                     MessageBox.Show(Language.ErrorMessages.FilePathMissingInvalid + @": " + Path, Language.General.CircleDockName);
  28.                 }
  29.             }

Can anyone see what may be causing the problem? A message box should show up if there is an exception but I don't think you guys are getting any.

Perhaps this is a problem caused by the native language of your OS since I see you have Chinese Simplified and there may be language conflicts with English. I wonder what the native OS language of the other users with problems are?

I will try changing the file execution code a bit for Alpha 8 to see if it will help you guys (Using System.Diagnostics.Process.Start instead of ShellExecuteEX). Strange.

XP SP3, .net version 2 as far as I can tell and natively, it's in Danish.

Wouldn't it be easier to drop the System.Diagnostics part? It does the same thing...
