@mouser
please please mouser about this automatic resizing business, please make it optionnal in any case
thanks in advance :Thmbsup:

regardless, let's remember FARR is not meant to be a full browser, this new view mode is mainly meant for plugin writers to display custom output.
IMHO, the new view mode will be used mainly for aliases

why would you want to make it optional? maybe instead allow aliases / plugins to set specific sizes instead?

Great! Glad to see progress in FARR.

First of all, for the enjoyment of everyone, here is one cool use for web mode right away:
igo http://www.google.co...p;ctz=Asia/Jerusalem

Second, found a bug in web-mode. Details to recreate:
1) igo google.com
2) Search anything else with FARR to quit web mode
3) igo google.com

why would you want to make it optional?
because i'm sure i will not use it, and i want to keep FARR always the same

maybe instead allow aliases / plugins to set specific sizes instead?
this is an interesting idea

Oh! Another thought. Now that we have this browser plugin, we need someone to allow things like define, wikipedia etc to open in the FARR browser. Especially when you're just going to be looking for a quick answer rather than wanting to launch your browser.

one idea i had was the ability to specify a list in an options tab of what pages/sites should load in internal browser by default, so all other aliases which open web pages would first be checked against that list and then loaded internally or externally as specified.

Second, found a bug in web-mode.

found the same problem as vitalyb but without changing mode, successive igo browsing also gives that error.

New FARR release - great great great Mouser!  :Thmbsup:

It will be really interesting to see what cool ways to use the html view mode that people will come up with.

edit: viewing HTML (webpages) in FARR is really addictive! After some quick testing it seems to me that many mobile phone formatted versions of webpages work especially well with a small FARR window. The pages load lightning fast and they often stick to the essential information (few ads, no large logos at the top of the page, no or little scrolling needed, and so on...)   :-*

Some regular pages are also minimal enough to fit well into a small FARR window. For example, try: igo http://exacttimenow.com/
(as a custom alias: 1000>>>time>->time | htmlviewurl http://exacttimenow.com/ /ICON=icons\farr\core-internet_www.ico>+>^time$ )

Excellent idea. As Nod5 mentioned browsing with farr is becoming increasingly addictive :D and the ability to have the window auto-size (or set by the plugin/alias) is an important functional step imo.

Second, found a bug in web-mode.

found the same problem as vitalyb but without changing mode, successive igo browsing also gives that error.
 (see attachment in previous post)

Also keep getting this on one of my machines. Have to restart farr to get html mode to work again.

I get it when  I try to use internal viewer second 3rd times. You are not getting maybe because we do not have your spesific compiler related files? Missing library?

While compelling, it kinda sucks having to type out the full host name as, for example, the "igo" alias. I can't remember the last time I typed this out in a browser, always using the ctrl-enter hotkey.

I can see how to build a god-awful regex to supply (for that alias) a "www." and ".com" if omitted, but not how to extend that to supplying ".net", or ".org". But it's a read-only alias anyway.
