show control panel
« on: October 17, 2005, 08:29 PM »
Is it possible to make the items from the control panel show up?

If it isn't would it be something that would be considered for a future update?
Why is it that writers write, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So, one moose, 2 meese? One index, two indices? Is cheese the plural of choose?

hi there alexp,

in the meantime, if you had added your system folder into F&RR's search list then you can simply type "cpl" & a list will prop up...
fyi, i restricted my search to 9 items...

Don't know if it will work (haven't tired it yet) but how about adding a small folder and include it in the search folders with shortcuts to the control panel items you are interested in?

you absolutely can do this yourself right now, just make a folder in your start menu and create shortcuts to the control panel items you are interested in.  but part of F+R appeal is out-of-the-box already set up to search common things, so i think its worth adding to the program.

I think this is the feature I miss the most at the moment (e.g. being able to type "System" to go and change the system properties (Control Panel > System), typing "Add or remove programs", ...), that is without having to create shortcuts to them in another folder first (like Colibri (http://colibri.leetspeak.org/) does). That would just be great :-)
