DLL Error Messages
« on: October 11, 2005, 04:35 AM »
Hi,

I just started to try ScreenshotCaptor, seems to be really UserFriendly and fit to my needs.
Thanks for the nice program!

unfortunaltely, I got sometimes an Error if I select a Screenshot-PNG File on the left side of the program and press [STRG] + [C] to copy it to the Clipboard.

the message is:
die Anwendung oder dll c:\programme\ultraEdit\ue32ctmn.dll ist keine gültige Windows-Datei. Überprüfen sie dies mit der Installationsdiskette.

Why the hell does Screenshot Captor need this DLL???
If I check with processExplorer there are even more DLL's used by Screenshot Captor
like my Nokia Software etc which are not at all related to Screenshot Captor.
Pliease see the Screenshot here:

the left sidebar of screenshot captor is basically a component that provides full windows file explorer shell support.
as such, it supports all the operations found in windows explorer, and it will attach to the dlls that are registered as shell extensions just like any file explorer tool will (it doesnt use more memory is just links in automatically to existing shell dlls).

this answers why the dlls seem linked to screenshot captor but doesnt answer the ctrl+copy effect.
i tried it here and it worked like normal shell.

question:
if you open windows file explorer and do ctrl+C on a png file, do you get same dll error?

Thanks for the fast response.

the reason for the DLL's sounds reasonable to me, thanks for the explanation.
the DLL in the ErrorCode belongs to UltraEdit, which is installed on my machine.
UltraEdit works without any problemes and there are also no poblems opening windows file explorer and doing ctrl+C on a png file.

Are there any Info's, logs i can post in order to help solving the problem?

the thumbnail component is buggy - it has been a constant battle to work around its bugs and i have finally decided to get rid of it and replace it (see other threads too).

the new solution will be faster and more stable; i will try to have new version in next week or so.

Just installed Version 2.02.02, up to now, there are no error Messages.
but they appeared in 2.0.6 only from time to time, so I will have to observe the new version a bit longer to give you an exact feedback.

Up to now, it really looks very good, keep up the good work!
