I know its a slightly older version but Techsmith is making this version available for free and since their products are so well developed an older version may work well for some.

Dang! I wish I'd known about this before I bought BBFlashback... Not that I'm not happy with BBFlashback, but FREE has a nice ring to it! Thanks for posting this, Chris, downloading as I type this (what can I say? I'm a software junkie).

Plus the free version allows you to qualify for the upgrade pricing if you choose to goto the newest version.

Sweet! I just checked mouser's screencasting review, and this free version is the "new and improved" one due out later in the month the review was done

I really don't need this, but it's installed now! Not too tempted to upgrade ($149 US) but will be comparing it to BBFlashback Pro.

I have been using SnagIt for years and recently started checking out Camtasia Studio. Great products and a great company to deal with.

Yeah - thanks for clarifying that, Chris. That was the point I was trying to make: that this free offer is for a newer, more feature rich, version than the one that mouser raved about in June 2005

Just a short post to note that the free license code provided by Tech Smith doesn't work and the only response I received from an imquiary is a list of FAQ type of problem fix suggestions none of which are applicable.

This is probably a dumb question, but are you using exactly the same user name to register the program that you entered when you downloaded the installer?

So, since version 2, wich was merely 2½ years ago, there has been version 3, 4 and now 5 - three versions, each with the upgrading price 50% This version 5 does not sound as a good investment... can it even be more expensive?!!!!

Heh, heh - good point Curt. However, Camtasia 3 is a very fine application in its own right, and I see no need to upgrade to version 5.

if the offer is still valid, try requesting a new key. also just a suggestion but try copy-paste the serial number instead of keying-in yourself. for the record, mine works fine..

Yes - lanux is right - if you've tried pasting the serial in perhaps it's time to request another key. I just checked and the offer is still valid. This will probably be quicker than going through support!

I received my serial within minutes of submitting the web form. Veign posted about this at 9:37 am PST and I received my key at 9:43 am PST... That is, as I was typing my response to Chris' original post.
