The WiFi does connect, but the proxy/router asks for confirmation or credentials before you are allowed to access the outside world.

I can confirm this one - Recently tried to connect to a BTOpenZone WiFi network the other day, not even an hour after disconnecting, and it had already forgotten me and wanted my e-mail address to login again - Not really much of an issue to be honest.

ofcourse it is an issue, because your phone is supposedly connected to wifi, but it is not! and it doesn't automatically switch to 3G! It is in a state with no internet access!

Hello
Often in order to connect to a wifi network, it is required that you visit a webpage and click there a login button or enter your username and password and login etc.
This procedure you often need to repeat after some time.

As you understand, this is very problematic. I just want whenever I am in range and whenever I have wifi enabled, I want to automatically connect to the saved wifi network, without having to do extra actions.

Is this possible?

I understand that the network administrator may somehow control access to the wifi, but since I have the credentials, I want to automatically connect!

Is there any fix for this?

Not to mention the futility of trying to innovate a dinosaur. Nobody is going to waste the time and effort to create a new and better payphone...because they are simply no longer needed. Gas stations are in an earlier yet much the same situation. There is no point in streamlining/improving a process that will start dying out in another 20 or so years.

I don't object to hybrids...I just find the toothless emasculated ones to be obnoxious. There are a few on the market that don't completely suck.

Hydrogen filling stations, yes.
Charging stations, yes.
Gasoline stations ... Let. It. Go. The risk/reward factor just ain't there.

You do realize that that assertion is rather obtusely predicated on the assumption that it is perfectly fine for any or all of the other occupants in the vehicle to drop dead...right?

Just because a vehicle is/was/would be driverless doesn't mean having it arrive at its destination with a corpse in it is to be considered a win.

That technology has potential, and a definite future in many applications - Kind of like Life Alert for your car.

I had in mind wearable devices that will monitor your health and report in case of emergency, that's why you don't need car seats to do this!

it's the health organizations and medical devices companies that should take care of this, not automotive companies!

My preferred LaTeX editor is TexMaker. Kalos, it has what you are looking for, in the drop-down menus «LaTeX» and «Math», as well as left side panel symbols.

I just installed TexMaker.
It seems very hard to use program for people who are new to this.
I was expecting a GUI of mathematical symbols, that when you click on each icon, to display an example on how to use the code to generate what you want

You should really try Sygic*, its partly free, and fully usable off-line (without internet connecton) if you pre-download the maps when still on WiFi.

Sygic, Igo, Copilot, are all good and can all be used offline once you download maps.

thanks for your suggestions but I really need the excellent search feature of Google Maps, that you type anything (like petrol station, mcdonalds, partial post code, supermarket, etc) and it returns excellent local results

You mean the 'voice volume' ? I have already set it to maximum.

But the USA voice doesn't say "including street names" below!
So it won't speak out street names! Which is an absolute no no.

Also, that Waze thingy, doesn't offer the ability to preview the voices somehow, which is bad

Haven't tried this yet, but apparently the app SilentNight's description is:

Configure the phone to go silent and/or airplane mode between two times of the day.

Note: one can get the apk from that page or install via F-Droid -- see the page for details if interested.

Today I used llama.
I was enthusiastic about the many options it offers but I am disappointed.
This is because I set it to set my sound profile to silent, from 9am to 5pm when I am at work, and it didn't restore it at 5pm to 'normal profile'!
How can I do this?
Do I have to set another event trigger to set my phone to 'normal sound profile' each weekday after 5pm?
Same with WiFi, while it disabled wifi while I was at work, it didn't re-enable it, at 5pm.
Any hint?

I used Waze today.
Initially I was amazed by the good amount of warnings before turns and the timing they occur.
However, I used the Serena voice, the only UK English voice that has 'street names' and it was awful!
The quality is so bad, that it is heard like she speaks from a bad phone line!
Also, it is not loud at all!
Compared with Google Maps' voice which is loud and clear.

Any hint?

You said you're using Waze, right? For me, Waze handles that part automatically. When I start it up in the morning, it knows itself that what I normally do is drive to work, and it offers me that straighaway. And similarly in the evening, it knows that I'm going to be driving home.

Hello!

I often receive a voice message on my mobile saying blablabla call me at 0728473832, etc.

Is there an app that will automatically detect that phone number and offer me to call it?

Because I have to listen to the voice message a couple of times and write down the number and then dial it, etc which is a bit tedious and risky for errors

PS: I can see a problem with when voice message contains extension phone numbers, but okay.

With Tasker that's pretty trivial. And you can go farther, like having it shut down Waze again once you've arrived at work.

In order to understand it, you just need to let your fantasy free

Imagine, which would be the best way to refuel your car?

To me, I would just go to the station, and without leaving my car, an automatic robotic arm will insert the nozzle in the tank, fill it, and I just leave!

Now what do I do? I arrive at the station and wait in the quete, I start/stop the car few times, until I reach the filling point, I open the door and get out in the cold, put the nozzle, fill the tank, leave my car open and unsecure to go to the kiosk of the station, wait in the queue, interact with the cashier, search for money in my pocket and wait for change given which can be made a mistake or put out the card from my squeezed wallet, insert it to the slot, wait to connect, put my card back again, and then go back to my car, fasten my seatbelt, etc

I really doubt it's a 3 seconds improvement

It's not about convenience only, it's about both speed and security
