Will this only work for 'installed' software or will it also work for software that is run from a folder directly?
-Carol Haynes (June 13, 2007, 08:46 AM)
i'd vote for both options since many of the programs on my pc are not installed but are portable/zipped versions.. :)

« Last post by lanux128 on June 13, 2007, 09:18 AM »
i used to have WS_FTP too in the earlier days of internet.. the GUI program made such a difference given the other option is to fiddle with command-line ftp.exe :) however, nowadays, i'd go for FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net)..

yes, i also have that "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" setting at zero so that firefox builds the page on-the-fly but it is only noticeable on a good connection.. i didn't seriously thought that safari could be twice as fast without some trade-offs.. anyway, for now it's just the curiosity factor. :)

General Software Discussion / HovText - Clipboard enhancer
« Last post by lanux128 on June 12, 2007, 02:50 AM »
HovText is a small freeware and open source Windows application that removes any formatting from the clipboard and it also works as a simple clipboard manager. Any text in the clipboard will be pasted as raw text without any HTML code, font size, color or layout etc. HovText remembers also the last 10 copied texts (both formatted and unformatted) and you can filter out whatever text you need with regular expressions.

Some key features:
· Removes all formatting from the clipboard (removes HTML code, color and layout etc.)
· Clipboard manager that remembers the last 10 entries
· Can be activated or deactivated via a hotkey or a single mouseclick
· Possibility to remove identical lines
· Possibility to remove leading/trailing whitespaces or linebreaks
· Possibility to copy links only and choose linktype (movies, pictures, emails etc.)
· Possibility to recreate old copied text (a simple clipboard manager)
· Possibility to specify a regular expression seachstring as a linktype
· Possibility to delete all settings from the registry (no unnecessary mess)

But wouldn't it be easier to just call up the normal windows calculator and do the calculation stuff there?
one of the hallmarks of a great launchers is to be able to do in-line calculations.. ;) actually, see here for the request i made..

I am currently using v2.00.82 ALPHA but seem unable to download the latest alpha version using the normal link - has this changed?
yes, it has changed to a *top secret* location.. ;) PM mouser for the new location..
4948
good research, zridling.. i must be like light years behind as only recently i found out that GNU/Linux doesn't support dial-up modems (serial or USB).. instead you have make a trip to http://www.linmodems.org to complete the process.. ;)

P.S. i was installing Ubuntu 6 & Vector Linux 5.8 on a P3 with 328MB RAM..
