I'm using the original for now.. at some considerable risk that I'll have to take those videos down and re-upload them.. I need a custom version asap!

I hear ya.  I do worry about hard drive temperatures.  One thing you could do is install one of the programs that monitors hard drive temperatures in the background, and will show them in the system tray and show an alert if they rise above a certain temperature.  There are some good free and paid apps that do that.

The top HD is a 2TB HD -- the solution that jumps out to me is to replace it (and any other HD of similar size) with an SSD.  Less heat, much faster, takes up less space.

It's a good question.. I think the ideal thing would be if someone could compose an ORIGINAL piece, 22seconds long, that is inspired and similar to that theme, but not exact.

Yeah perhaps I don't need a full band just a person in front of a computer who is good at music software... Anyone?

Living Room / Need help recreating some music -- full band needed?
« Last post by mouser on May 01, 2021, 08:54 AM »
I've spend the last 7 months or so plugging away at my new YouTube project.. Learning a bunch of new skills, having a bunch of fun.
I recently decided to make a fun retro intro for the YouTube channel, heavily inspired on the intro theme to The Odd Couple, one of my very favorite sitcoms (from the 1970).

I began with a copy of the intro which was about 118 seconds, and got down to 20 (still a bit long), but here it is, scored with the original television show theme music:

So here's my challenge -- I can't really use that original amazing 1970s music by Neal Hefti.. I need to have some original (or licensed) music, but I'd love for it to have a similar sound and feel so it mirrors it's original inspiration.

Is anyone here capable of that or know where I could find someone who was?

I need the full rich sound, so a soloist on the piano or guitar is not going to work.. It needs some horns, drums, etc..

Thoughts?

"The Emperor of Scent tells of the scientific maverick Luca Turin, a connoisseur and something of an aesthete who wrote a bestselling perfume guide and bandied about an outrageous new theory on the human sense of smell. Drawing on cutting-edge work in biology, chemistry, and physics, Turin used his obsession with perfume and his eerie gift for smell to turn the cloistered worlds of the smell business and science upside down, leading to a solution to the last great mystery of the senses: how the nose works."

Find And Run Robot / Re: Create FARR Python plug-in?
« Last post by mouser on April 16, 2021, 08:41 PM »
I'm afraid not.. It's tempting to build a version of FARR with a built-in python engine, but I don't want to add a bunch of stuff that most people won't need, so the Fscript route is currently the way to go.

Only thing I would suggest from the list above to reconsider is the use of executable packers.  These days it seems much more trouble than it's worth.

[modified by KodeZwerg]
you hacked my locked topic  ;D ;D ;D
all new programs do not receive any special executable packing treatment anymore.
that was meant for my older work over the years.

You should not ever see the popup again once you put in the key.
It must not have been saved.  You can check the Help menu -> About item to have it show you if it thinks it is licensed.
Let me know if you are still having trouble.

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 Pledge & Release: Image Grid
« Last post by mouser on April 07, 2021, 07:05 PM »
ImageGrid is such a useful tool, and so easy to use.
vlastimil if you are still around, I have a couple of feature requests.  Mostly they have to do with being able to set some options:

1. Ability to have the margins configurable (in size and color).
2. Ability to have TRANSPARENT margins.  This may mean an option for png format.
3. Options for rescalling images so that we could choose for example to have all images in a row be the same height, and/or all items in the same column be the same height. preserving aspect ratio, cropping, etc.

« Last post by mouser on April 05, 2021, 02:11 PM »
Thanks for updating us, viking.
That is indeed very strange..
Whenever there is some problem accessing the database file it seems to be traceable back to an antivirus program locking the database file.  There are some options in CHS for where to store that file.  Changing that location and/or adding it to the list of excluded folders in your antivirus program might help if it happens again.

CHS also makes backups of your database regularly, so as a last resort you could restore from a backup.

You should be able to click (and hold) on a blank area and drag it up to the top (you may not get visual feedback until your cursor nears the top).
