The reason this is a problem anytime I'm not immediately available to spring into action is because I also keep my RasPi connected to at least one cryptocurrency peer-to-peer network in which I can be penalized or deemed less trustworthy if someone tries to connect to my device and it doesn't respond. It's not making me rich, but it's earning me a decent amount of money simply for keeping a device running/connected that I'm already leaving running/connected 24/7 anyway as my personal media server and whatnot.

You buried the lede. What is that, and how does it work? Maybe on a new thread. That sounds interesting...

Did you try to get support on their site? I just tried it on one of my boxes, and it worked.

Another perspective with this device:
It depended on a server running under the control of the creator to set it up, (I don't even know if it's still running).
It was a Kickstarter project run by someone who apparently has a history of thinking up good ideas but then never fully follows through with them after an initial run. There are a ton of reports of people not receiving anything or that they didn't work properly.

Thanks for chiming in. I never had a problem with mine, and used a throwaway google account for the service, so never knew things went so badly. I stopped using it a while ago when I was able to get my own modem.

But yeah, I don't think it would be too hard or expensive to hack this together yourself- I just used that because I didn't want to reinvent the wheel and it worked for me.

I had this problem a while ago and looked into this solution:

http://whatimade.tod...01-and-single-relay/

I ended up getting in on a Kickstarter project that basically packaged that without me having to do it.  They still sell those items.

If you're looking for just ratings (either star or percentage), there are several plugins that do that. Use a table plugin that supports CSV import, and I think you can get it sans coding. What you're talking about, I've never seen before.

BTW, it's been 4.5 years since DOpus v12 came out ... didn't realise I'd been using it that long.

I keep wondering if I should upgrade- I'm just cautious about the same thing happening as last time.  I upgraded to 11 after holding off for a while, and a little over the time that he gave for free upgrades, 12 came out.  11 works fine, so I just figured I'd wait until the next version came out.

I had it disabled also, and Brave had not flagged it.  But I definitely saw a few strange things, and my browser had become noticeably slower at times accessing sites at different times.  I'd suspected it my be TGS, but not for that reason...

......I have all of those except Total Commander, but I replaced that with Altap Salamander.  I use DO whenever possible on my primary machines, and XYPlorer portable everywhere else.

@wraith thanks... What made you make the move from total Comander to atap salamander

I think I phrased that badly- I meant I used Altap Salamander instead of Total Commander.  I've never used any of the *Commanders.

Oh!  That explains a lot!  Thanks for the heads up!

I'd noticed some weird urls blocked by Malwarebytes recently that I didn't know the source of, even after trying to track them down.  I guess this explains it.

Apparently I "collect" file managers, because over the years I've purchased, xplorer2, Total Commander, XYplorer, and DirectoryOpus.  As others have said, DO is probably the most feature-rich.  Personally, my go-to usually falls back to XYplorer.  Do note that, XY is natively portable.   With DO, you can buy a portable version, but it will be tied to a particular usb stick.

I doubt whether I use even 20% of what DOpus is capable of but I'm comfortable with it and I'm happy to support the developer.

Same here.  And I just learned a lot more from your post :D

Yes.

I have interest- just no time :)

My top 10 Video Games of the year (in no particular order)

Cyberpunk 2077 (PC)
The Elder Scrolls Online (PC)
Satisfactory (PC)
Rocksmith (PC)
Wasteland 2 (PC)
Dying Light (PC)
Grim Dawn (PC)
Conan: Exiles (PC)
Marvel Contest of Champions (Mobile)
Marvel Future Fight (Mobile)

Interesting to note is the fact that only 2 of those are purchases in 2020.  I do have a couple that are on my to play list that might end up on that list.

If I limit it to only games that I purchased in the last year the list changes drastically.

Cyberpunk 2077 (PC)
Satisfactory (PC)
Beat Saber VR (PS4)
Iron Man VR (PS4)
Rogue Squadron (PS4)
Soulcalibur VI (PS4)
Tekken 7 (PS4)
Walking Dead Saints and Sinners VR (PS4)
Metro Exodus (PS4)
Borderlands 2 VR (PS4)

A lot of PS4 Games in the line up restricting it in that manner.  A lot of it can be chalked up to the fact that I tend to play the same games on PC, while on PS4, I'm more willing to just dive in, so a lot of my PC purchases are languishing in the backlog.

Just a note: Office 2010 is not supported anymore by Microsoft, in the same way that Windows 7 isn't supported anymore.[…]
Yeah, it's supposed to be end of life since october of 2020, but they still published patches for it this month (for example KB4493145). Maybe someone over there forgot about it? :D

If it's a critical patch, they still publish them a while after, I've found.
392
In trying to remember the *Commander options, I ran across one that I think I'll try.  The price tag is a bit extreme (up there with DOpus), but it is a perpetual license, unlike DOpus. https://fman.io/

393
I know Skwire uses Altap Salamander (so it must be good :-)
https://www.altap.cz/

Doesn't XYplorer have a free version -- hmm, still available but not supported/updated since 2017. You may even find a portable version in portable apps or somewhere... https://www.xyplorer.com/free.php

XYPlorer stopped updating their free version, though it's still free.  Altap Salamander is also very good- I used it for years on machines where I didn't have DOpus installed until I switched to XY.

Other options that I know of include FreeCommander, DoubleCommander, and OneCommander, though I haven't used any of them.

Congrats!
395
Same here.  It also gets me into my work systems from home without having to either (a) use their machine or (b) give them access to mine.  I set up a VM using VirtualBox, connect to VPN from there, and then RDP into my work box.  The other options are nice in a bind, and I've used them before.  But RDP is my choice when it's available.
396
There are enough free software tools, already mentioned above, that don't need a Windows Pro license.

I think that she was just offering an alternative.  If they have a pro license already, then this is the path of least resistance.

Hey, what's your Youtube channel abour?

https://www.donation....msg443025#msg443025

That's the thread in which he introduces the project.

I might aughta play with some of this stuff one of these days - But the (lack of IoT security) paranoid in me makes it difficult

Because of that, there are some things I won't use IOT, but others... if someone turns my lights on and off, I don't really care.  I just keep it behind a firewall on a different subnet.
398
Yeah! ...I'm not crazy.

Something like this perhaps?

Same thing as what I mentioned above- just a different brand :)

While doing a livestream on my youtube channel i realized it would be nice to have a dedicated little light bulb that could be triggered to turn on in certain events, like if a certain person used a certain keyword in the chat, etc.

It would be nice to have a programmable little piece of lightup hardware (arduino? raspberry pi?) for such purposes..

I did something similar using a hacked Amazon Dash Button, A simple smart outlet, and IFTTT.

Since you're just using twitch notifications, you don't need the button to send the signal... hook it up to the twitch actions to hit the Meross smart plug in IFTTT.

And those are just the prebuilt actions.  If you have a pro account on IFTTT, you can create custom actions, and use webhooks from the Twitch API

The IFTTT options for Twitch -

ifthis.png

Lifx bulbs are a bit more expensive, but I prefer those to the plugs.

You can also set up chat bots to listen for certain things in chat- refer to the API reference:  https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/irc

This sound scary but youtube probably recommended me your video and I watched it without knowing it was you.

I'm surprised now after read this post.

Perhaps from your browsing habits they know that you visit this forum?  It would be interesting to see the link that they drew, and how they did it.
