Why don't you put it in Details/Power mode and see what the column is called?

So, it serves to make me all the more aware of what a fine job of proofing you two guys did, Perry and 4wd. Kudos to the two of you!

Just last month, I probably spent hours trying to figure out what pci addon card i need to get to make use of the usb 3.0 ports on my tower and also add some spare ports for an external drive or hub.  The only ones available are the largely unreliable ones made in china.  And they have issues, I don't use any of my large 3.5" drives externally on them because they experience corruption issues because of the driver or something.

Reading that I can't decide whether you want a PCIe card to add more USB3 ports or a PCI bracket to connect to ports headers already available on the motherboard.

FWIW, I've had an ASUS U3S6 PCIe card in my computer for the last two years running without a problem, cost AU$20.

Edit: Ah, do you want a PCIe card with internal headers to connect to ports on the case?

How's it look now, 4wd? The contact slide-out form is at the very top-right, where it won't block written content.

Much better, still seems to be a bit wide than it needs to be for my browser window but the amount of content obscured is a lot less than previous.

If it could be moved closer to the right border it probably wouldn't obscure the main page content at all.

I probably should have mentioned it earlier but my normal browser window width is 1024 if you want to test at that resolution.

I'm in negotiations with a professional voice-over actor/producer about having him make an audio-book version of Kyrathaba Rising for a split of royalties.

Better look at the last lot of comments on GDocs then  :P

Not really, floating menus that you can't get rid of are one reason to avoid a site AFAIAC.

ie. It obscures content, which is what I visit a site for - if I have to keep scrolling around just to read what's under something that really doesn't need to be there, then I won't go to that site.

Is there really anything wrong with a button at the top and bottom?

I know it's only my view, (and to be honest I don't visit blog sites anyway), but in the end you are trying to promote your book/writing which kind of makes it commercial - and very rarely have I seen any commercial site that willingly obscures what they're trying to sell.

A slight critique on one item of your site:

2013-07-31 11_28_45-About me - William Bryan Miller - Pale Moon.png

Please don't automatically assume everyone has a 4k pixel wide display and/or that they always run their browser at full resolution.

It's even worse on a mobile where it obscures a higher percentage of the screen.
2936
Maybe the URLs were being fetched from your history cache? I had to clear my cache to get rid of them and start afresh.

I don't have Pale Moon, (or Firefox), set to use a persistant cache, (disc cache disabled), it's purely RAM based which is cleared every time it exits - which I had to do to install HTTPS Finder, (exit that is).  But I also cleared what little cache there was, just in case.

I thought I had it set up so that I don't automatically load any embedded media. That doesn't necessarily mean that is what is happening though!    ;D
What would I need to do to prove that, either way?

If it's set to not autoplay then you should get the same kind of thing I get in the screenshot above, (apparently Pale Moon only).

AFAIK, the only thing I'm doing to achieve that are what you mentioned here and the one I mentioned here - not running any addons to block any media automatically playing.

ADDENDUM: OK, it appears as if it's a "feature" of Pale Moon - I just downloaded the portable version and ran it with no addons and no changes to default settings except for the two about:config entries mentioned.  If I then go to DC in HTTPS, the media is displayed as per my screenshot.  In Firefox, you get what you said - nothing.

So, my bad, sorry  :-[

Well, with the qualification that they don't come back from the dead... undead politicians? Good grief. They're destructive enough as it is! :P :D

I don't know, the chance to kill the bastards over and over again?

I'd buy that for a dollar!
2938
Well, I reinstalled HTTPS-Everywhere along with HTTPS Finder, (no rules for DC created), and I can still see the videos in the forum, still get the red exclamation mark against pages with partially encrypted contents.

A question: Do you automatically load embedded video, (I don't automatically load any embedded media) ?

Support mandatory euthanasia for seniors to help keep health care costs down. :P

I think something along the lines of The Purge might work better, as long as they take politicians off the protected list.
2940
Your screenshot is odd though. I could not have done that. I wonder what is different in my setup?
In your screenshot, what does the red icon with an exclamation point signify?

I believe it means that some content on the page is unencrypted.  So while the content served from DC is encrypted, any external links to YouTube aren't.

You may find it better to mark HTTPS Everywhere to not action youtube.com rather than DC.

I used to use HTTPS Everywhere, (and the Greasemonkey alternative: HTTPS Please), but it caused more problems than it solved - easier to type https when I want it.

Just tested it now. It's consistent and repeatable:
Invisible YouTube frames: https://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=21962.0
Visible YouTube frames: http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/index.php?topic=21962.0

Both those work fine for me, top one indicates some of the page is unencrypted.
2941
Define "invisible", I use HTTPS for DC and have no problem:

I've got Win8Pro x86 running on my Acer netbook, Atom N270, 1.5GB RAM, 60GB 4200RPM HDD.

Booting from cold: abysmally slow - a lot slower than XP
Booting from hibernate: fast, about 15-20 seconds not counting BIOS startup

Hybrid sleep is disabled, it just flattens the battery.  Boots to Desktop, none of that 'tile' rubbish.

And for some reason the WiFi glitches after a while, needing it to be turned off then back on - something that never happened under XP.

For what I use it for on the netbook, it's fine - but XP would do just as well, take up a lot less space, and run better because I wouldn't need a pagefile, (which I needed to turn on for Win8 to stop it complaining about lack of RAM).

I'll probably reinstall 'nlitened' XP on the netbook since its requirements are a lot less, and maybe give Win8 a go on my Desktop after 8.1 comes out.

I never watch trailers or anything about a movie before I see it,

For The Colony, neither had I, but from watching other movies that had the same 'adversaries', (hinted at in the first few minutes), the narration of what happened to the planet, the SOS, the initial confrontation between Paxton and Zegers, etc, etc - it all adds up to give you a pretty good idea of what's going to happen further on.  As Shades said.

Gallowwalkers

Don't expect anything meaningful though. It's straight up action/horror/western.

Having watched it the night before you posted this: not much action, not much horror, and (apart from the environ) not much western.

And I'll go along with Shades w.r.t. The Colony, much of the storyline was apparent after the first 10-15 minutes.  I still found it a decently done movie but I won't be watching it again unless I'm really bored.

Another classic last night:

that hasn't worked for me since upgrading to Dopus 10 - I presumed they had disabled it for some reason - does it still work there?

Probably because you turned it off :)

Works here, DOpus 10.5.2.0 on Win7 x64 and Win8 x86.

There was a news story on ABC here a few days ago: Tennessee town with fastest internet speeds in the US

BEN KNIGHT: Part of that is because the big data companies have learned from the Chattanooga experience. They've successfully lobbied 18 US states to pass laws that block other cities from building their own fibre networks.

If that isn't anti-competitive, what is?

For example, my 11½ y/o daughter drew my attention to some UK news the other day that ended up with my listening to an Oxford Union debate where it was mentioned that there had apparently been systematic grooming, raping and prostitution of underage (under 16) girls - some just children around the same age as my daughter - by a group of all/mostly Muslim men in the university town of Oxford.

That was on the news, (or possibly in an expose), over there in 2011 or maybe even 2010 - I remember watching it on the TV.

Actually, there was a fast food place where I grew up, (40+ years ago), that did sell a hamburger that had nothing but ham in it.

Europa Report (somewhat eerie in parts, I love sci-fi/space flicks so I certainly wasn't bored but I wouldn't watch it again).

Same here, as I watched it I kept being reminded of Apollo 18.

Went back to a classic last night, Jason and the Argonauts, Ray Harryhausen's stop motion effects are brilliant.
