I'm not familiarised with auto-it, but from what i know of autohotkey, there should be some instruction to change the icon of the script you use to change that button's function.

Farmsteader: that's true, ntfs does support encryptation, but it's not out-of-the box. You have to configure it (somehow, i don't know how to do it). I own an external disk, formated in NTFS and i've used it in 2 computers without it prompting me for any password.
Also, there are other solutions like truecrypt.

I'm quite excited about this program!
Here's a bunch of other features i found in the meanwhile:
It features the possiblity of creating "rules" for windows, such that a variety of actions can be made as the program detects those windows' existance.
Also, it uses *very* little memory, process explorer displays 3.8mem of private bytes.
It also has per-desktop configuration of a variety of things, from desktop background to icon placement, startup actions, resolution and even things such as "startup sound", screensaver (???), and the possibility of password-protecting desktops. You can also hide the start button, the taskbar, etc etc.

Oh, and i forgot something... It's freeware!!. And way better than any shareware i've seen for this task! :D

It even has "desktop slideshow" (not that's useful, but it's fun :D)

What can you ask of a desktop manager?
First.. That it works! This excludes most of windows virtual desktop managers. The windows vdm powertoy sucks, it has trouble with almost every window i can think of. Others can't completelly hide windows, others don't have custumizable hotkeys, well.. Most of them lack important features.
But that's not the case with Dexpot.
There's no feature you can't find, nothing you can't custumize and... It simply works! It even has that exposee thing that mac's OSX has, minimize to tray, rollup, always on top, change window transparency, etc, etc, etc!

Here are some screenshots:

Found through snapfiles

Through snapfiles, i just found EarthWatcher.

This is a program that allows you to have real time images of the earth, as your wallpaper.

EarthWatcher uses two satellite images to create a map of the Earth on your desktop, that displays the areas of the globe where the sun is shining. You can set the interval to update the image, have it display the sun at zenith, save the image to a file and more. Makes a nice, dynamic wallpaper.

Here's a little something to help the solution:
I just found at snapfiles this: Flash Wallpaper. This program allows you to use a .swf file as wallpaper.
Now, all we need is a flash file that looks good as a wallpaper! :D

JohnTurnbull: since you were the one who made this post, i suppose you're somehow associated with Spartan multi clipboard. If that's the case, you should make that noted in your posts.

PS: I'm not saying you can't post about it, or that i don't think that software would or would not be right for this situation. I'm just asking you to obey the forum's rules.

It's good to know that, and i love to see the authors posting here, it means they care.
Thanks for the explanation, it's good to see you added the privacy policy page!

Flash could do that.
Then, maybe it could be used combined with active desktop, to fufill the original request. You think it's possible, deozaan? (and it wouldn't take too much memory while at it?)

Find And Run Robot / Re: New FARR v2 Icon Design Needed
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 18, 2007, 04:25 AM »
dclagoa: If you'd like to test how your icon looks in the tray, here's a small script to do it.
Attached to this post is a .exe file with the following ahk code compiled:
code inside
#persistent

ifexist, Icon.ico
  Menu,Tray,Icon,Icon.ico,1
else
{
  msgbox,icon.ico doesn't exit. Now exiting
  exitapp
}
return

If you'd like, you can download ahk from www.autohotkeys.com and run the code, instead of using the .exe version i have attached to this post.

Anyways, what this script does is set it's tray icon to the icon in it's directory named "icon.ico". So, just place your icon in the same dir as ShowIcon.exe and run ShowIcon.exe and you're icon will appear in the tray area. To make it go away, just right-click it and select "exit".

Anyways, the above grid doesnt seem to be attatched to post as you say - also your whatchamacallit - signature - the image link is broken (from my perspective at any rate!)
Oops... I must have been sleeping, that day. It's fixed, now attached to the post.
Oh, and the signature... Apparently there must be some problem with allen's imagiine, i've contacted him to see what's up.
Thanks for the heads up ;)

My opinion is that the best looking icon right now is nudone's 'f'. Farmsteader might have a point about the 'f' key confusing people, though.
As for problems with windows colours, the F key icon doesn't have any problem with me and i use a white skin in windows.
I also like tuckndar's purple running man, and it has the advantage of being similar to the previous icon.
If we're looking for something along the lines of white on blue, i think hamradio's blue man might be the best option.

As for going back to the previous icon, i think that'd be a waste of very good artwork here.

Well... The basic solution for this is an alternative explorer like xyplorer.
In a very recent thread, there were some alternatives presented. I'll try to find the thread.
Here's the thread.
Apparently, the best option is the one mentioned in this post

ExpressView Browser from Lizardtech:
http://www.lizardtec...gin&platform=win
will plug into a browser and allow navigation through MrSid and JPEG2000 images...
Lizardtech has a GeoViewer too that might be command line controlable.
Unfortunatelly, all that looks like paid software, and i'm not exactly sure how it could help, since it wouldn't integrate neither with the background nor with the screensaver.

I've been thinking about this, and i can't find a way to do it.
I thought that active desktop could be a good solution, but i can't find any sites with animations worth being part of a desktop. Also, for those to have enough quality, most probably they'd be too comsuming in terms of bandwidth :(

According to this post in another thread, i ask the people who use gridmove:
How would you like to be able to create a list of windows for each grid element on the grid you use and have an hotkey that would automatically arrange the existing windows in the current grid, based on the information on that list?
2946
General Software Discussion / Re: Window Arranger Software
« Last post by jgpaiva on January 17, 2007, 09:19 AM »
I use gridmove constantly. I'm not sure that auto-arranging windows would be all that useful. I like putting windows right where I want them.
Yes, but it'd be cool if i could somehow configure the grids to have the windows automatically adjust themselves to it. Imagine for example the edge grid: the main grid could have a list of applications like this:
opera,firefox,internet explorer
and the others could have something like:
Mirc,msn messenger,xyplorer
So, when you pressed a hotkey (or activated the option in the tray menu), the existing windows that fitted the grid's description would be moved and adjusted automatically.
I think it sounds like a feature worth trying. I'd love to get some feedback on this idea.

However, adding the options to remove borders, status bars, etc. could be useful when you are dealing with smaller windows.
Well... I just tried that with ahk and didn't get very good results, the windows look messed up.
If you'd like to try it youself, here's the ahk code:
#y:
WinSet, Style, -0xC00000, A
return
#u:
WinSet, Style, +0xC00000, A
return
Just press windows + y to remove caption and windows + u to get it back.

If you like this, it's easy to make a plugin for gridmove.

I had the exact same feeling when i saw it. It can reach lots of people, so it's perfect for that kind of stuff.

Holly hack, it hates find and run!
Nevertheless, it is a good idea, Something i should thing about implementing in gridmove.
Very interesting post, ken. I'll keep this around ;)

I just downloaded the latest version.
The "simple mode" was a grand idea. I think it might be a big help for begginers! (I'd love to see their face when they change from "simple mode" to "advanced mode",  :D :D)
I think the stuff in the simple mode is well chosen, i'd leave it like that.

In terms of skins, my all-time favourite is mxskin31.skn. This is the one i've been using ever since my first instalation of farr.

Attached to this post is the grid you asked for, singx7. I also fixed the 3-part reversed grid, it had an error. Thanks for noticing it ;)

dziacial: Yes, as long as you have placed that grid in the /grids folder. An example of how to configure it is:
Right-click the tray icon, and select options. Then, select "Set grid order".
A new dialog comes up. Just add the following to the text in it:
grids/axcrusik_s_grid.grid

[edit] here's the grid [/edit]
