FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR plugin: FARR Windows Search 0.3.0

Z: and Y: are mapped network shares containing thousands of indexed documents. There is no problem searching them with Windows Search. I'll have a look at resetting.

Yes, exactly, that's what I meant : you potentially have much much more files and folders to index. So there's obviously something wrong with the index settings (it currently says : 9473 items indexed).

Here's the post about resetting that option I was referring to earlier (: "Allow Indexing Service to Index this disk for fast file searching") it was in another thread, sorry about that : https://www.donation....msg268552#msg268552

Tried resetting but unfortunately didn't work. I'm guessing there's something wrong with the way the plugin queries Windows Search as WS is working correctly and finds everything I want. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that this is a work computer and me not being an administrator on it.

This is what I get:

You don't have much indexed there. You could click on "Modify" and see what folders and files are being indexed.

Also look at one of my previous posts where I explain how to reset the indexing process (you might have to re-enable indexing for folders before you can do anything).

Strange, this only searches Outlook mail and mail contacts for me.

In Win 'Search programs and files' enter Search and select 'Change how Windows searches', that brings up the 'Indexing Options'. What do you see there?

This is what I get:

I went from KR to UKs Kalender and never looked back.

BB flashback is very good, not overly complicated yet does what most of us need

7
Picasa is definitely a good alternative.

I've always liked PDF-XChange Viewer better.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: Everything plugin for FARR

This is absolutely awesome.

Just create an alias with Everything's command line.
^ev(.*)
Everything Search $$1 | C:\program files\everything\Everything.exe -search $$1

A small modification to make multiple search phrases carry over from the FARR input box to Everything:

^ev(.*)
Everything Search $$1 | C:\program files\everything\Everything.exe -search "$$1"

Thanks, thats even better.

Tried Hordit, no way to store a folder or even multiple files at once.

If possible, a FARR plugin based on this program would be nice.

General Software Discussion / Re: In search of ideal backup utility
« on: August 23, 2008, 03:24 AM »
I feel i have to put in a word for Backup4all here. Been a user of this software for a long time and i must say it is a very reliable product which hasn't failed me once. I have tried a lot of backup programs and this is the one that i found to be the most configurable and reliable among the affordable ones.

About:config->extensions.checkCompatibility=false
Too dangerous for me, would be easy to accidentally forget about it and end up downloading an old extension that really messed with your browser, then as soon as you turn it off all the old addons stop working. But nice note though, I'll confess i didn't know about it :P
Ehtyar.

You get a nice warning about the disabled check every time you install extensions, and there is always the uninstall button. ;) Anyways, to each his own.

From what i've heard it's actually Gmail that doesn't support unsubscribing from selective folders (yet). I personally gave up on Opera+IMAP long time ago and went back to POP. I've tested Thunderbird and IMAP for a while but the problem was the same, you get all your IMAP folders downloaded.

Zsoft uninstaller is also a pretty fast.
- link corrected

http://www.zsoft.dk/...etails&prog_id=4 is the homepage

Thanks Curt, my bad

If you have several managers installed it makes it easy to choose which one you want to use for a particular download (or choose not to use an external download manager at all).

Quite an impressive collection there , and I thought I tried them all...

Very nice posts . Especially the comment on autocomplete which I personally have been going on about in several forums. Been an Opera user for longer than I care to remember and I cannot for the life of me understand why they choose to omit this feature, as an option of course,  in every release. As said in the post, it should be up to the user to decide what level of security he/she wants.

Nice find Amadawn, I've been looking for this for ages. Have it on one of my comps but could not remember where I got it from
