Well I have tried a lot of launchers and come to the same conclusion as many others here, Truelaunchbar is a very nice program and I have stuck to it for years now. One thing that bugs me with other lauchers is that when you make a shortcut to a folder, that shortcut doesn't include the name of the folder, at best it pops up when you hover your mouse over it, very annoying.
And Truleaunchbar does have an easy way of saving the setup. TLB settings->General options->Backup toolbar.

Unfinished Requests / Re: IDEA - Folder history

Thanks for the tip mouser :) However I can safely say I've tested most of those programs and they don't quite do it the way I would like.

Unfinished Requests / IDEA - Folder history
« on: November 26, 2005, 12:24 PM »
I was wondering if it's possible to code a simple program that keeps tracks of your recently opened folders (preferably configurable number of items in the list). I have tried some programs that does this and some more, e g Direct Folders, but my experience is that they don't do the job the way I want to. Often these are programs that lets you access your favorite folders by right clicking for example the windows close button and  their history only keeps track of the folders you opened this way.
My idea is a program you can access either by right clicking an icon in the system tray or better still, right clicking the titlebar on any window. It should then pop up a list of your recently accessed folders. This list should contain folders either accessed through explorer or through the open/save dialog.

Totally agree with Your opinions Mouser, now if we only had a site that combined the lively community of Fileforum with the excellent layout and search features of Snapfiles.... But I guess you can't have it all.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Locate 3.0 - great HD search tool
« on: November 02, 2005, 04:47 AM »
Check out http://fileforum.bet.../Locate/1044509669/1

Publisher's Description:
Locate saves names of all files in your hard drives to file database. After that you can locate files. This program works like updatedb and locate in Unix systems. Win32 based locating program also included.

If you install the 3.0 Beta make sure to install the full 2.99 version first (read the readme in the archive you download).

Is that the perfect replacement for Windows' Win+f search? It looks that way!

I didn't test Locate for a long time and it's unbelievable how great it works now! :D

Lots of new options too, I just didn't yet find out

a) how to do searches like *URL.txt;*lol*.jpg (to search for several files in one single search) like they are possible in the Windows search.

b) how to set Locate to 'activate' the first found file when the search is done (like in the Windows search) or maybe even already when the first file is found.

Anyone knows?

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Automat, http://www.networkautomation.com/automate/user/?CFID=525785&CFTOKEN=13472334. I've tried alot of macro programs but for me this is the only one that does what I want. The others are mainly lacking in the triggering department. Automate has an extensive amount of options for triggering and has a very nice interface. A little heavy on the resources and a bit expensive but very well worth it.
Why nobody mentioned it? Well, I think it's because the community is pretty small and because it's not freeware? :D (At least that's what it looks like)

Read https://www.donation...dex.php?topic=1167.0 ?

Well the community might be small but it sure looks like most here know a thing or two about software ;) Neither of the programs that Miles mentioned as possible candidates in his post are freeware so...
