Screenshot Captor / Add Grid-Labels in Zoom
« on: October 22, 2019, 03:37 AM »
Hello Mouser,

at work I use Screenshot Captor daily to create screen shots and add annotations.
Simply the best tool for my needs.

But I also use a tool called "Consic Ruler" (https://www.consic.de/de/ruler).
This is a screen loupe that offers a gutter (grid lines), adjustable zoom levels and most important: grid-labels in the gutter.
This means: in the gutter I see numbers, see attached screen shot.

Consic Ruler.png

So when Consic Ruler is started, I just need to move the mouse over a text and can see the height of the text without having to count pixels manually and also without having to select the text in the screen shot to see the size of the selected rectangle in the status bar.
In the attached screen shot you see that the measured font height is 9 pixels.

Screenshot Captor already has a zoom area at the bottom.
The only thing that is missing is an optional grid-labels.
With this feature I just need Screenshot Capture and can get rid of the Consic Ruler.

Any chance that this feature will be implemented?

Best regards

OLLI

This would really help a lot (to copy the image without objects to the clipboard).
Thank you!

Hello Mouser,

save as also requires that I select the new image in Screenshot Captor (one click) and press <Ctrl>+<a> and the <Ctrl>+<c>.
And afterwards I have to delete image (the image without objects).

A menu entry in "Edit > Copy to Clipboard > Copy image without objects (Ctrl + Alt + O)" is less actions.
(I suggested an hot key here but I am not sure if this is already in use)

Screenshot Captor / Copy Image without Objects
« on: June 28, 2017, 02:52 AM »
Hello,

I often make screenshots where I add some notes (Text Object) or some rectangles (to mark bugs).
When I create a report I need the screen shots without those objects.
Currently I click on "Launch Graphics Editor", in Paint I select <Ctrl>+<a> to select the whole screen shot and then <Ctrl>+<c> to copy it to the clipboard.

Is there a faster way?
It would be cool to copy the screenshot without objects into the clipboard directly in Screenshot Captor.

Best regards

« on: November 22, 2016, 08:01 AM »
Hello Mouser,

I found a bug in the current version of Screenshot Captor.
On the left side I have a list of screenshots (option "Screenshot Panel: Simple List on Left").
Here some names are longer than the column width, so I have enlarged the width of the column "Name".

When I click on "View -> Toggle standalone screenshot window", then the screenshot is opened in a separate window.
Here the width of the column "Name" remains as I have set it.
But when I close the separate screenshot window, the width of the column is smaller, so I have to enlarge it manually to see the full screenshot name.

Maybe you can fix this in the next version too.

Hello Mouser,

I work with two monitors, both have 1920 x 1080 pixels.
When I take screenshot of applications they normally are in full size.
So I have the problem that I can not see the screenshot in full size mode in SC, because here I have the toolbar, the screenshot panel, the tools and the status bar.

Here you added the "View -> Toggle standalone screenshot window" where I see the screenshot in a separate window that I can drag to the second monitor.
Perfect!
I just need a button in the toolbar and a hotkey where I can toggle this view without having to click on the menu and search for this entry.
So just a button in the toolbar and maybe also a hotkey for an existing feature.

Hello Mouser,

it has been a long time when you released a new version of Screenshot Captor.
I really hope the project is still active?

Do you plan the toolbar button and the hot key to toggle the "Maximum Screen Size"?
It is really nerve wrecking when I always have to click "View -> Toggle standalone screenshot window".

Hello,

I worked some days now with 4.15.2.
The bug seems to be fixed.

You just need to update the version on your servers (the Auto-Updater tells me "You have a newer version of ScreenshotCaptor (v4.15.2) than what's on the web (v4.15.0).")

So the beta 4.15.2 you linked above is the latest official or is it the latest official with some changes?
If it is the latest official with some changes, should the version number of the beta not be 4.15.3 or 4.16?

Hello Mouser,

the beta version you linked above is version 4.15.2.
If I look at the official website (https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html) then I read there that the official stable version is 4.15.0.
But hen I download this stable version 4.15.0, I see the version 4.15.2 in the Help -> About.

So the latest beta and the latest stable version have both the version 4.15.2.
I am confused.

What is the current Stable version?
What is the current Beta version?

Hello Mouser,

I saw that you offer 4.15.2 when I download the portable version from https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html
So is 4.15.2 a official (stable) version or a beta version?

I can test the latest Beta, of cause.
Just tell me where to download.

Hello mouser,

today I have the same problem again although I did not use the standalone screenshot feature!
I just modified exiting screenshots by adding objects and while saving the .objects file is shown.

I use Windows 7 (not windows 10) and Screenshot Captor v4.12.0.
I also use [Windows] + [Shift] + [->] and [Windows] + [Shift] + [<-] to move the Screenshot Captor window from one screen to an other.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Permission for a portable version
« on: July 30, 2015, 02:23 PM »
Hello,

You don't need the portableapps-version.
Download the portable zip-version right from donotioncoder at:
https://www.donation...hotcaptor/index.html

I know this, in my posting above I wrote:

I know you offer a "normal" portable Version at your site, but this must be updated manually.

A PortableApps version has the advantage, that it is automatically updated to the current version as soon as mouser uploads a new version to PortableApps.com
When I use the portable version from this website, then I always have to update the portable version on each PC manually (we have some "specialists" that can not perform this, so this is my job).

Additional Important information
The boss of PortableApps (John T. Haller) wrote in this posting: http://portableapps....00392#comment-200392
that Screenshot Captor contains Nagware (the registration reminder), so it will not be published at PortableApps.
So if you plan to release a PortableApps version, please remove the registration reminder there.
Thank you!

Screenshot Captor / Re: Permission for a portable version
« on: July 30, 2015, 08:20 AM »
Hello mouser,

for Screenshot Captor there is only an older portable version (4.5.0) available at PortableApps.com available:
http://portableapps.com/node/30465

The next problem is, that Screenshot Captor Portable is an "Development Test" version and not a "Official Portable Version".
Original Portable Apps are automatically updated via the PortableApps Plattform (a launcher as shown here: http://portableapps.com/)

I told you that I work as an Ergonomic Engineer and Usability Engineer.
We are here now 9 people in our team and ALL of us want to use Screenshot Captor.
The problem is that all other users except me have no Admin rights, so all of my colleagues can not install applications.
We can use portable versions, but not install applications.

It wold really be cool, when Screenshot Captor would be available as official PortableApps application that is automatically updated by the PortableApps Plattform.
I know you offer a "normal" portable Version at your site, but this must be updated manually.
Details about packaging an application in the PortableApps format can be found here: http://portableapps.com/development

Please consider this idea.
Thank you!

of cause I used the standalone screenshot feature (very very often).
I also switched very often from standalone screenshot to docked screenshot.

Hello,

today it also worked (the .objects was shown for just a second and then was removes).
It seems that this problem occurs when I have Screenshot Captor running for several hours and also worked for a longer time with it.

Hello,

when I take a screen shot, add some objects and hit {Ctrl}+{S} to save, then I see in the file tab also the .objects file for the saved screen shot.
See attached screen shot ScreenshotCaptor.png.
When I press {F5} then the .objects file dis-appears.

This problem occurs often.
If I adjust 3 screen shots, I see also 3 .objects files.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Display Ruler in Zoom
« on: July 14, 2015, 08:39 AM »
Hello mouser,

all I need is that you add in the zoom panel (here you see the red lines) the following options:

  • Let me adjust the zoom (zoom in and zoom out)
This can be done by clicking on the zoom panel and pressing the {+} and {-} keys on the keyboard
  • Turn off / turn on a scale (numbers).
This scale is depending on the zoom level, so when I zoom out to 16x enlargement, there should be one number in each line

Reason:
I work as Ergonomic Engineer and Usability Engineer.
So I check applications if they fulfil the needs according to DIN-EN-ISO 9241.
On part of my test is the font size and the font type.

Font Size
When I check the font size, I use Consuc Ruler.
Here I measure the font in the about box of SC.
See attached screen shot sc_font_size.png.
I add such screen shots to the screen shot of the application, so the IT projects can see on the screen shot, that the font is 9 pixels and this is too small.

Font Type
Here we check if some small characters (lie h) are larger than the capital characters.
Sorry for my bad English, it should become clear if you look at the attached screen shot sc_font_type.png
Here you see that the small "h" and "b" are larger than the capital "F".
These screen shots I also add to the screen shot of the application.

It would be cool when you add scale numbers and allow to zoom in.
So I would select a zoom level where each line has a number (so you can easily see the font height).
This way I just need ONE tool (Screenshot Captor) to make screen shots, to mark issues and to measure the font size and font type (by taking screenshots of the SC window and paste the small Zoom panel into the screenshot of the application).

Sample
For a sample showing how such a screen shot of an tested application can look like, see sample.png.
This is just a quick (and dirty) example.
But it should show how I work.

Greetings

Hello mouser,

I am working with this mode some weeks now and it really helps me a lot.
Fantastic work (as always).
:-*

I suggest the following improvements:
1) implement an hot key for toggling standalone screenshot window (F11 would be really nice)
2) implement a toolbar button to toggle toggling standalone screenshot window

Suggestion 1 is really important, waiting for a small update.

Screenshot Captor / Print Template
« on: January 23, 2015, 05:48 AM »
Hello,

I use Screenshot Captor to take screenshots for Ergonomic reports.
For the current report I have 57 screen shots.

We need all those screenshots in one single PDF file.
I know that Screenshot Captor can perform this already.

But the problem is, that we need it in a special layout:
  • at the top right we need the logo of our department
  • at the top left we need the filename of the screenshot
  • at the bottom we need a foother with some additional information (name of the application, date, page)

So we have a Word template, that contains this all.
For the file-name we have the text <Fine-Name>, for the image we have the placeholder <Screen>.

It would be cool if I can select all images that I want to have in the word file, then select to export them wo Word and then select the Word file I want to use.
Screenshot Captor shoud recognize the tags <Fine-Name> and <Screen> and replace them with the data taken fromn the screen shot.
This should be repeated for each selected screen (so at the end I have a word file that contains one screenshot per page).

This feature would really be cool.
And it would safe us a lot of work (adding 57 screenshots manually took me nearly an hour).

Please consider this idea!

Hello Mouser,

SC did not ask, if I want to save when I clicked on an other image.
I hope I remember correctly (I am at home, so I can not re-test this).

If I open the image in an external editor you should show a modal dialog that asks me to click "OK" when I am finished editing the image with the external editor.
Would this be an option?

Greetings
