upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and now CHS (latest version) is not starting up automatically. I also manually put a shortcut in the startup folder as well as set Run As Administrator as default.

Subject says it all.
I have v2.18.01.

Nothing special, no new installations. It was working fine (CHAS v2.13.01, XPproSp3) and 2 weeks ago it went haywire.
I have a feeling you will say "install the latest version," though I (and no doubt you) would like to understand the issue.

Mouser's Zone / CHS error exde29: Operation aborted...
« on: May 23, 2013, 03:53 PM »
...preceded by "Error DB65: dbisam engine error #11949 SQL parsing error - Expected...but found ) in DELETE SQL statement at line 1..."
This happens twice, followed by one "Error DBG103... Table or backup file...does not exist."

What's going on?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: clips stored in reverse order
« on: September 30, 2012, 01:00 PM »
Sounds like it must be something simple -- have you changed the sorting order?
When you say the clips are in the wrong order, do you mean in the quick paste popup menu, or in the main window or both?

Yes I meant in the quick paste menu.
Well, it now is in the correct order, though I have no idea why. BTW What do you mean by "have you changed the sorting order?"

One problem still remains (though I didn't mention it before) --  I cannot paste a My Favorites clip from the quick paste menu, whether by clicking or by letter shortcut. I hear a "bloop" sound but nothing happens, nor does it paste via Ctrl-V after that "bloop" sound.

Clipboard Help+Spell / clips stored in reverse order
« on: September 24, 2012, 05:13 PM »
My clips are suddenly showing up in reverse or random order, so that if I do Ctrl-C  and then  Ctrl-V  I get a clip from yesterday but see the most recent clip all the way down on the list of recent. I just tried it again and now the most recent clip is showing up in the middle of the list!
I have the latest version & do NOT have "combine in reverse order" checked in Misc Options.

Well, the PC cure-all (restarting) trmporarily cured this one too. We'll see if it resurfaces...

in chs you can actually turn off clipboard monitoring (Clipboard tab of options, uncheck "Monitor Clipboard") -- see if the same problems remain.
(you might have to also disable the "Clipboard Tricks -> Re-establish" on same tab.  see if that fixes anything.

I tried those 2 changes; no joy.

3-minute update: I just noticed that CHS being active is also crashing my MS Word 2003, except it does it immediately on startup of Word, without my pasting anything! Notepad is fine, but Eudora also crashed when pasting, with a similar "CHS hangover" until I copy and paste something new.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Bizarre IE8 crashes with CHS
« on: November 09, 2010, 09:20 PM »
Short version: IE8 crashes completely whenever CHS is active and =anything= is pasted in =any= text field.

Details: I tried updating to the latest version of CHS but no change. I'm using WinXP Pro. It only affects IE8 and not Chrome. It only affects IE8 text fields at =all= websites but not the IE8 Address bar. The crashes happen whether I paste via CTRL-V or via CHS hotkey; whether a sound is played when pasting or no sound; whether a complex item is pasted or a 3-letter word or even a single blank space character.

It gets weirder: Even after I exit CHS and I paste any little thing which was captured while CHS was active, I get the same crash behavior even after several restarts of IE8!! The only way to break this CHS curse is to capture something new (while CHS is inactive) and then paste it. From that moment all Windows copy and paste activities don't affect IE8.  The only new software that I can recall installing before this strange behavior was a new version of McAfee Total Protection. So I disabled the Real-Time Virus Scanning as well as the Site Advisor feature, but nothing changed.

You may also want to install the trial version of VueScan, though the Officejet 7310 is not in the list of supported scanners

I installed the trial version and it works with the 7310 doc feeder OK, but there is no "Page" menu item at all. The other 6 menus are there, but not "Page". Also FYI, the trial version litters the pages with nasty watermarks.

In the Page menu there is an item "Interleave".
This command can reorder scans from a document feeder where you cannot manually turn over the page which has text on both sides. You put the pile into the feeder and scan first all the front pages, then you turn the stack around and scan all the back pages.  F.e. you scan front pages 1F,2F,3F, and 4F in this sequence. When you turn the stack around and put it into the feeder you now scan in the opposite direction, so you get the back pages in this sequence: 4B, 3B, 2B, and 1B.

Hi brahman,
On the subject of interleaving, maybe you (or other members) can slove this mystery for me:
I have an HP 7310 multifunction with an ADF, but I can't use its double-sided scanning function due to a hardware malfunction, so I'm trying to use the interleaving feature of the "Microsoft Document Imaging" tool that comes with MS Office. On one XP Pro PC I have MDI 2003 installed, which crashes at the end of every "double-sided" session with a "OCRDCOM failure" error -- though it does go through the "scan odd sides then turn over for the even sides" routine correctly. I've tried re-installing the MDI program, with no improvement.
On my other XP Pro PC I have Office 2007 installed, and for some strange reason when I try to run MDI 2007 with the same HP 7310 scanner, MDI has the "Use ADF" and "original is double-sided" check-boxes greyed out, as if the machine didn't have and ADF. And I do have the latest HP drivers installed.
Can you offer some insight into one or both of these problems?

Clipboard Help+Spell / exporting favorites, presets

Is there a way of exporting favorites and presets and preferences to another computer without also exporting the clipboard history?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Caps<=>lower case as a formating preset
« on: February 09, 2009, 05:04 PM »
OK, I posted b4 searching. So now I found my answer here

BUT, when I try to follow these instructions exactly:
"...Then choose the UPPERCASE text formatting and nothing else"
I find that it's impossible =not= to choose "trim left" and "trim right."
I'm assuming that this won't make a difference, but just curious how to unchoose those 2...

Clipboard Help+Spell / Caps<=>lower case as a formating preset
« on: February 09, 2009, 04:51 PM »
Modifying case from All caps to no caps is the formating move I do most, so it would be great if that can be one of the quick formating presets. Along these lines, is there a way of choosing which modifications appear as presets?

Clipboard Help+Spell / clipboard manager for Palm OS 5?
« on: February 01, 2009, 02:46 PM »
Any recommendations for a stable CHS-like app (even if limited) for Palm OS 5? (I own a clie TH55.) Some the the titles of such utilities floating around the web either crash (clip pro) or are hard to track down and/or work with (FDAL, Clips). So I'm eager to hear some positive experiences.

UrlSnooper / Re: stuck: WinPCap setup freezes
« on: December 09, 2008, 01:20 PM »
... or restart Windows, which is what I did.

BTW, Mouser, does UrlSnooper expect WinPCap to be installed in a certain directory?  I like to install my Programs NOT in Windows/Program Files, but I noticed that WinPCap didn't ask and installed itself there, while UrlSnooper was installed in a different drive.
I wonder if that was the cause of the freezeup.

UrlSnooper / stuck: WinPCap setup freezes
« on: December 09, 2008, 09:37 AM »
While installing UrlSnooper the WinPCap setup routine froze. UrlSnooper wouldn't launch, so I uninstalled UrlSnooper and tried to delete the WinPCap program folder which has 2 files in it, but I get the message:
Cannot delete WinnPcap: It is being used by another person or program.
Any ideas?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Purging of Favorites

You could even move the clips to the "My Favorites" group.

This does =not= work; they still disappear. I have now created a new group named "Faves" & moved them there. Let's see if that works.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: clipboard icon missing

That was it.  I have now unchecked automatic startup and instead placed a CHS shortcut in my Startup folder.  That should accomplish the same thing without the bug. Right?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: clipboard icon missing
« on: September 10, 2008, 09:03 PM »
Yup, the menu popped up, and recent clips are visible. Got the main window and thought I'd check the "stay on top" View option, but nothing changed. Everything is still hidden until I do ctrl+alt+Q again.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: clipboard icon missing

Same thing started happening to me.  Even though my preferences are set to start with Windows startup, CHS does not start.  If I start CHS myself, the tray icon flashes, but the program does NOT run.
Alt-Tab does not reveal anything.  BUT, ClipboardHelpAndSpell.EXE does show up as a running process in Task Manager (mem.usage=5,840k, 144 handles).
