DC Gamer Club / Any game gifts or freebies for a Ukrainian?
« on: March 14, 2022, 11:18 AM »
I'm sorry if this post isn't right for the forum. I know it looks like a soliciting (and probably is) but it's worth a try for me.

Right now I'm in a very hard situation with the war going on in the country. It brings enormous pressure to me -- the uncertainty of the future, the inability to escape Ukraine right now and so on. I try to cheer myself as much as I can but it's hard, given that I have some emotional problems. I feel that some personal attention would be good for the mood. Even though I know that happiness shouldn't depend on having things, it would help me right now.

So I am asking for any person who has financial capability and GOG account to help me cheer myself. If such a person has a desire, he or she can buy games on GOG and send me as a gift on my family's shared account shinkarom at gmail dot com. I would be very grateful. Preferably peaceful games. Receiving a gift is a pleasant feeling that shows that someone cares about you.

Thank you in advance.

It's 100% pure unadulterated Delphi.

N.A.N.Y. 2020 / NANY 2020: Solar Date Calculator
« on: December 27, 2019, 07:04 AM »
This is a little fun app (for Windows though Linux users can use Wine and Mac users... some emulator) that calculates the number of days between two dates. The twist is that it calculates the number of days for every planet in Solar System according to its days length. Of course, if you're on Mars, the days are little longer. If you're on Mercury, not so much.

Software for journaling that has written prompts and fields that you can fill. It doesn't have "Save" feature or database. However, it has an option to "Print" or "Send to printer". This way, you don't have to keep a database for every entry, and (if it's a gratitude journal) every time there will be a physical evidence you have something to be thankful about.

App to help remember "small prophets" order in the Bible.
App to make custom clock by changing amount of seconds in a minute and minutes in an hour.
App for gratitude journaling that without saving sends the written entry to print.

KodeZwerg, I don't think that scoring multiple hits is necessary, because this app is designed for scoring one word only, not the complete Scrabble play. If there are multiple hits, they can be calculated separately.

« on: October 01, 2018, 03:51 AM »
You can call me a lazy programmer ;D. This app currently doesn't have a word database included in it. All it does is adding the values of every letter in the word and showing the complete score. This way, you can calculate the value of any word, regardless of whether it is legitimate or not.

But if it's needed I can look into adding word database. However, then I can't add too many languages, because I'm not sure there is a word database for every language in a simple format.

Thanks for the help, I don't know what I would do without you.

Maybe you should remove .exe from the list of supported attachment formats, if it is a problem. I was fooled by this list.

BTW, I think it would be stupid for a person with 4 NANY badges risk his reputation (and a chance to get $20) by uploading infected file. But maybe I'm too naive for this world. And .Net apps do look like small viruses written in Assembler, because of their size.

I add the application as an attachment but it doesn't show up in the post.

This year, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you ScrabbleScore -- simple application that calculates your Scrabble word scores according to English language scoring.

It works on .NET Framework 4.6 and was created on Windows, so Windows runs it smoothly. It can be run on other OS (Linux with Mono, for example), but untested.

Just enter the needed word and look at the score. To mark letter as "double-letter" or "triple-letter", just put number 2 or 3 before it. To mark word as "double-word" or "triple-word", just put 2 or 3 at the end of the word. If there are several letters in a row, only the last one counts.

N.A.N.Y. 2018 / NANY 2018 Release: Preguntista
« on: November 28, 2017, 08:23 AM »
Preguntista is a simple software to automatically add Spanish inverted question (¿) and exclamation (¡) marks to your text and to copy it to the clipboard. In theory, this application should make your chatting in Spanish much easier. This application can also insert Spanish diacritics (but only to the end of the text).

Preguntista requires .Net Framework 4.7.

Thanks Doazaan for his cooperation. Everything worked out fine. I can vouch for him as an honest and responsible person.

I have some money on DonationCredits but there is no reasonable way that I can cash out these money to my Ukraine. Even PayPal isn't supported here. On the other side, all my life I wanted to have SimCity 4 legally.

That's why I propose to somebody who has an account on GOG and is willing to do the good deed. Send me as a gift SimCity 4 (I'll tell my account when we have a deal), and I return you money with DonationCredits.

According to GOG, the game right now costs $19.99. GOG also says that there are some restrictions in gifting: "Account cannot gift until 3 months after purchasing $10 worth of items". According to this, it's a countermeasure against resellers.

If you want to take part in this deal, tell me.

Developer's Corner / I DARE YOU to make simple sport management game
« on: February 23, 2016, 11:36 AM »
For some time I have an idea in my mind to create a soccer management games a la open-source Bygfoot Football Manager. However, I don't have the guts right now to create it. But since not everyone has money to buy FM2016 and not everyone can invest enormous time and commitment to this huge game, I think the future is in simple and lightweight management games that can be played quickly.

Therefore, I DARE YOU to create simple open-source sport management game for PC (football, basketball, baseball, anything) that could be simple (but not too primitive). Ideally it would be the game where you can play a season in 5 minutes. Would be also great to have an ability to create and edit league files (to add countries, for example). Players could be fictional. And it better be open-source.

Do you accept the challenge? Do you dare?

Have any thoughts about the software?

I present my new application designed to benefit from Wikipedia "Random Page" access. The usage is very simple -- just click "Next Page".

You have to have installed Net Framework (at least 4.0) on your Windows computer to run Wikirandia. Or Mono, to run on Linux or Mac.

This is a first, very basic version. Comments and suggestions (and donations;)) are welcome.

2 MB is an ordinary filesize for a small application written in Lazarus.

Quick Website Blocker

The software is designed to (yes, you're right) quickly block websites from visiting from the current computer. The software just adds line " [TAB] [website you have entered]" to the "system32\drivers\etc\hosts" path. You have to have administrator rights to perform this operation.

Using is simple: just enter website you want to block and click the button, then confirm the decision.

The software runs on Windows (tested on 7, should work perfectly on XP and Vista).

04.13.2015 - first version

* quickwebsiteblocker.exe (1961 kB - downloaded 473 times.)

I would like to create something so then to get donations for it. The most popular version is PayPal. However, PayPal DOESN'T work with Ukraine! So I ask what are some systems like PayPal that are able to send money in Ukraine. All I need is for the donators to be able to pay donations with their Visa/Mastercard. Do you know something like that?
