N.A.N.Y. 2019 / N.A.N.Y. 2019 -- ScrabbleScore
« on: September 28, 2018, 05:35 AM »
This year, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you ScrabbleScore -- simple application that calculates your Scrabble word scores according to English language scoring.

It works on .NET Framework 4.6 and was created on Windows, so Windows runs it smoothly. It can be run on other OS (Linux with Mono, for example), but untested.

Just enter the needed word and look at the score. To mark letter as "double-letter" or "triple-letter", just put number 2 or 3 before it. To mark word as "double-word" or "triple-word", just put 2 or 3 at the end of the word. If there are several letters in a row, only the last one counts.

N.A.N.Y. 2018 / NANY 2018 Release: Preguntista
« on: November 28, 2017, 08:23 AM »
Preguntista is a simple software to automatically add Spanish inverted question (¿) and exclamation (¡) marks to your text and to copy it to the clipboard. In theory, this application should make your chatting in Spanish much easier. This application can also insert Spanish diacritics (but only to the end of the text).

Preguntista requires .Net Framework 4.7.

I have some money on DonationCredits but there is no reasonable way that I can cash out these money to my Ukraine. Even PayPal isn't supported here. On the other side, all my life I wanted to have SimCity 4 legally.

That's why I propose to somebody who has an account on GOG and is willing to do the good deed. Send me as a gift SimCity 4 (I'll tell my account when we have a deal), and I return you money with DonationCredits.

According to GOG, the game right now costs $19.99. GOG also says that there are some restrictions in gifting: "Account cannot gift until 3 months after purchasing $10 worth of items". According to this, it's a countermeasure against resellers.

If you want to take part in this deal, tell me.

Developer's Corner / I DARE YOU to make simple sport management game
« on: February 23, 2016, 11:36 AM »
For some time I have an idea in my mind to create a soccer management games a la open-source Bygfoot Football Manager. However, I don't have the guts right now to create it. But since not everyone has money to buy FM2016 and not everyone can invest enormous time and commitment to this huge game, I think the future is in simple and lightweight management games that can be played quickly.

Therefore, I DARE YOU to create simple open-source sport management game for PC (football, basketball, baseball, anything) that could be simple (but not too primitive). Ideally it would be the game where you can play a season in 5 minutes. Would be also great to have an ability to create and edit league files (to add countries, for example). Players could be fictional. And it better be open-source.

Do you accept the challenge? Do you dare?

I present my new application designed to benefit from Wikipedia "Random Page" access. The usage is very simple -- just click "Next Page".

You have to have installed Net Framework (at least 4.0) on your Windows computer to run Wikirandia. Or Mono, to run on Linux or Mac.

This is a first, very basic version. Comments and suggestions (and donations;)) are welcome.

DC Member Programs and Projects / Quick Website Blocker
« on: April 13, 2015, 08:42 AM »
Quick Website Blocker

The software is designed to (yes, you're right) quickly block websites from visiting from the current computer. The software just adds line "127.0.0.1 [TAB] [website you have entered]" to the "system32\drivers\etc\hosts" path. You have to have administrator rights to perform this operation.

Using is simple: just enter website you want to block and click the button, then confirm the decision.

The software runs on Windows (tested on 7, should work perfectly on XP and Vista).

Changelog:
04.13.2015 - first version

I would like to create something so then to get donations for it. The most popular version is PayPal. However, PayPal DOESN'T work with Ukraine! So I ask what are some systems like PayPal that are able to send money in Ukraine. All I need is for the donators to be able to pay donations with their Visa/Mastercard. Do you know something like that?

I'm an amateur programmer so no business talk here (and no buying IDEs).

Currently I'm using Lazarus as my programming language and IDE. However, interface of Lazarus is pretty ugly so it's discouraging for me to use it.

I think about learning NET languages because Visual Studio is known to be easier for amateurs. Besides, it's going to be open source somewhere in the future. But I don't like Microsoft very much.

Is it wise to learn NET languages? Can their applications be run on Linux and Mac? I ask because people ask me to create apps for these platforms too.

What other languages can you advise me to learn? I considered Java but it's looks too hard.

My first submission to dc.com. The software is titled "You Can Relax Now" and is created to show the amount of days since Mayan Apocalypse. It runs on Windows (XP, at least) but can be used on Linux, Mac e.g. with emulation software. Here is screenshot of the my app for the October 16, 2014.

snapshot20141016.jpg

You can download software here: http://s000.tinyuplo...08268638318335150391. By the way, if there is some Donation Coder hosting that can be used for my software, I would be very glad to use it.

It is written on completely free IDE titled Lazarus. Take a look on it.

Waiting for your feedback.
Sincerely yours, Dmytro.

P.S. Try changing the system clock.
