Yes, and it then updates the link so the files works after that.

Drag&Drop Robot / BUG: Config file path missing slash
« on: February 13, 2009, 09:46 PM »
Drag&Drop Robot Version v1.11.02

The default config files are listed, but they are improperly pathed. I cannot load or delete them because of the missing slash after the 'ConfigFiles' directory.

When I am in this situation telling me not to buy it doesn't help. So I'll try this and see if it works for you. If it does, then maybe I will try it on myself.

I have a 4-node Windows LAN here at work and I want to run our own ircd so we can use irc internally for communications. Any hint or tips to quickly and easily setting up an irc daemon?

General Software Discussion / Re: Exe/Dll Resource viewers and Editors
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:18 AM »
Over a year later and it seems the land of resource editors is still a barren wasteland of rusting old hulks of once useful programs. Has anything new come on the scene and sparked attention? I am trying to decide which once to install on my development laptop which is running Vista.

Developer's Corner / Re: Automated Builds for Visual Basic 6
« on: February 02, 2009, 02:20 PM »
As a developer, I understand both of these programs are more than worth their respective prices.

However...  :P

My pocketbook isn't as understanding as I would like it to be these days.

I was wondering if anybody knew of any FOSS alternatives for this type of GUI-driven tool?

I'd kill for an eclipse project to take on this type of tool.

I see that Iconico Daily Deals is going to have Parse-O-Matic Advanced Edition on sale for 80% off. I am wondering what other similar tools are out there that are in this category. I am very familiar with the multi-hundred to thousand dollar programs out there for enterprise-strength data migration between SAP, Oracle, etc. But I am curious as to what other lightweight tools there are out there.

The next question is, will Parse-O-Matic Advanced Edition be easier/quicker to use on projects than me writing some python scripts. My initial guess is that it will be quicker/easier for the simpler conversation tasks, but that if they get more complicated, I (personally, since I know python) will be better off doing it in python.

Anybody got any experience in this area and/or with similar products?

If I can find the time, I plan on trying out the demo before it goes on sale.

But it leaves a bad taste in the mouth if one never stops trying to imitate one feature after another, year by year. Especially if done uninspired without bringing anything new or unique. And it makes it utterly worse if it is copied with poor craftmenship.

Sound like Microsoft's product strategy.  :P

Sorry, It is my duty as the official DC Smart@$$ to post cr@p like this instead of adding anything of value to a thread.

I'll be going now. Bye.  8)

I think a good solution would be to use WebSite-Watcher. WebSite-Watcher caches the pages you are watching locally. You could then include those pages in the index of your prefered search tool.

General Software Discussion / Re: MOGware's FileHamster (Complaint)
« on: January 31, 2009, 05:29 PM »
Contact MOG. It *may* just be the way you have set things up. Possibly turning off notification of saves or something might stop that. I don't know. Just guessing.

I am at that point in rebuilding my laptop (Vista) that I need to choose some AV. I am old school and rely on my experience to know what to avoid. The only AV I need is an on-demand scanner. For example to scan email attachments on-demand when I get attachments from people I know or when I download a program to install.

I have looked at AV-Comparatives and AV-test.org and think I am going to grab a copy of Avira AntiVir Personal. I will use it 99% of the time as a console app invoked by another program like Firefox, WinRAR, or similar.

One of the gajillion projects on my Someday/Maybe list is to take a bookmark file and lookup up the most common tags for that URL using delicions, furl, stumbled upon, etc. IOW use the wisdom of the crowd to do the tagging for me.

Nope, keep the credits. That doesn't diminish the value of the post. Keep 'em coming.

This is very good information. Thank you for taking the time to write this. I would like to see more postings of this nature buy other folks within their area of expertise. I've sent a few donation credits to encourage you and others to do so. Thank you.

Best Virtual Machine Tool / Re: VirtualBox - Top of the Lot
« on: January 28, 2009, 07:51 PM »
Before seeing this post, I download and installed Virtual Box earlier today. Mostly because of so many mentions by people I follow on Twitter who use it. I hope I am as happy with it as they seem to be.

I found Microsoft's desktop offering to be lacking in features and VMware's free server to be adequate for my needs. I like the idea of Virtual Box being open source and supported by Sun.

271
I know there is Server 2005; which I believe is focused on the virtual server domain. There is Server 2008 which I think is even Enterprise-Grade in the Standard version. But I only have a license for Server 2003.

I have recently been thinking about purchasing Windows Home Server since it is now sub-$100. Mainly because it will just work "out of the box" with my computers and my girlfriends Vista computer. I can install the clients on her computer and it will be seamlessly integrated and easy (easier) for her to use then trying to teach her non-native applications to use.

My only question is, since Home Server is based off of Server 2003, can I "mod" Server 2003 to act like Home Server and work with the Home Server Add-ins?

I'm thinking the $100 might be worth the savings in aggravation. Then again maybe I just want to buy something new and shinny and I should just be happy with a CentOS server and try to get things working smoothly enough that she (and I) don't go crazy jumping through hoops.

Anybody feel like convincing me one way or the other?  :-\

"Live Chat"ing with an Acronis sales rep right now.  They are allowing me to move to Echo Workstation if I purchase Universal Restore and a Maintenance contract. That is what I want, so I am going to take them up on their offer.

I purchased a maintenance agreement late Feb of 2008 for PD. I just checked my email spam folders and there is no notice from Raxco. I'll hop over there tonight and grab PD 10.

I purchased a new 320GB 7200 RPM HDD and am moving from XP to Vista on my (development) laptop. Grabbing new versions of (possibly) TrueImage and PerfectDisk should help with the changeover.

Kudos! This a quite a feat; to beat out Object Dock. Excellent work VideoInPicture!

Have you tried Rollyo? I haven't played with it for years, but I remember it being pretty good.
