IDEA: Taskbar hider
« on: September 08, 2006, 11:31 AM »
There's many (unfortunately) shareware programs that makes it possible to hide the tasks in the taskbar, not removing them, just hiding them.
Fx. Tweak-XP image of the option : Hide taskbar items

I haven't been able to find a single small program that does only that... hiding the tasks.
And unfortunately I have no idea of how to make one myself.
It doesn't have to have a lot of options, in fact it doesn't have to have any options at all, just a way to quit/close if that's what the user want.
There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who have friends.

i'm a bit vague about "hiding" and "removing from view".. there are some discussions here about taskbar apps but i not sure whether that fits the bill... try googling, you're bound to come with something

i simply stop the explorer.exe process (Start->Shutdown->CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+Cancel)
If you find a good solution and become attached to it, the solution may become your next problem.

There's another solution.
See information about taskbarEx here.
With this, you could just drag a task button out of your taskbar. It'd still be in your desktop, but you could make it not be on top and cover it with a window.

Maybe this one is what you're searching for?
