DONE: Recommend drag drop text util
« on: August 29, 2006, 01:24 PM »
Anyone know of a utility (windows) where I can select some text and drag it to another location (input box) .. when I let go of the mouse button, it pastes that text to where I dropped it.

Essentially it's selecting and dragging text around (between applications) without having to hit CTRL-C, CTRL-V or deal wiht the actual copy-paste operation.

I want to select a line of text in notepad and drag that selected text into, for example, the input box in my browser for a google search.

Freeware/Shareware is preference. Thanks

what browser do you use?

dragking
https://www.donation...m/Software/Skrommel/

can automatically copy mouse selection to clipboard and there is one extension in firefox that can search clipboard content with middlemouse click.
If you find a good solution and become attached to it, the solution may become your next problem.

1) firstly you need to change your fireFox location bar search engine
from “I’m Lucky” search to general Google Search,

-. Type about:config in Firefox location bar and press Enter
-. Type keyword in Filter textbox and you will see only the preference keyword.URL.
-. Double-click on keyword.URL and change the value to:

http://www.google.co...Google+Search&q=

2) install tab browser preference
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/158/

check "load url from the clipboard on middle click"
If you find a good solution and become attached to it, the solution may become your next problem.

actually.. I'm having a problem with DragKing.
It's a bit too anxious.  It's frequently copying things to the clipboard and I didn't even select any text!   (i.e. a dialog box opens up with an OK button and dragKing triggers, reporting that it copied the text to the clipboard)

this is happening a lot.  Any suggestions?

no problem here with DragKing, i searched the forum and you appear to be the only one having this problem.

it could be other background programs interfering with DragKing's script, like anti-virus/spyware, try disable them one by one.
