Desklock runs Notepad on startup
« on: March 20, 2017, 02:09 PM »
I am in a K-8 elementary school computer lab and really like the Desklock program.  Short simple and does the job.  My problem is this, I have put Desklock in the Startup folder so that when the computer is started Desklock starts.  There is no time for the kids to move things around and add things.  When it strarts up it sends the settings to the desktop in the form of a notepad document.  They can't do anything about Desklock from ther but I would like to not have to deal with it every time.

So can someone show me how to alter Desklock or have the notepad file close by itself?

I like to do thing simply and Desklock is really great about this.  Thanks Skrommel!!!

Are you putting the DeskLock.exe file in the startup folder?  Or, do you have the DeskLock.exe elsewhere and are just adding a shortcut to the Startup folder?

I have the exe file in the Startup folder.

Is it possible to put the EXE in its own folder and then create a shortcut in the Startup folder.  At that point, it should create the settings file in the folder where the EXE is.  If that doesn't work, I'll see about modifying the code for you.

That did the trick.  But just out of curiosity sake (in learning a new programing language) how might that have been stopped?
