I'm imagining a heiarchy of circles. First the standard Circle Dock of icons, each one containing it's own cluster of applications & files, a bit like you can on object dock. If you hovered over any of those icons, that circle would be pushed to the top left, and be replaced by a fresh circle that balloons out of the applications it represents.
Like so.I hope that's reasonable?
