Raspberry Pi 2 out now; includes support for Windows 10
« on: February 02, 2015, 02:27 PM »
Let’s get the good stuff out of the way above the fold. Raspberry Pi 2 is now on sale for $35 (the same price as the existing Model B+), featuring:
  • A 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU (~6x performance)
  • 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM (2x memory)
  • Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1

Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10.

An e-mail I received... just posted for interest:

Hello,

We are super excited to announce a new addition to the IOT Developer Program – Raspberry Pi 2!

In partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, we are going to make Windows 10 available for the Raspberry Pi 2. You’ll be among the first to know when we make Windows 10 available for the Raspberry Pi 2.

We will also continue to support the Intel Galileo through the program.

By being part of the Windows Developer Program for IoT you continue to be amongst the first to receive new information about the program, product announcements, beta program updates and launch specifics.

Thank you,
The Microsoft IoT Team

We are Microsoft. Resistance is Futile. You will be Assimilated..jpg
Windows 10 for RPi 2 isn't what people think it will be. From what I've heard, it will essentially turn the device into an Arduino with an MS-DOS prompt. You wouldn't want to use it for anything other than development testing anyway.
