How did google think I'm sharing that ?
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:33 AM »
I've posted a link (was http://emmanuelcaradec.com/qatapult/bin ) to my project Qatapult  on https://www.donation....msg278557#msg278557 and google seems to know it relates to me sharing something.

I suppose it might have something to do that it's my own domain, or may be it does a link between my analytics or google website account. I don't know. I can ignore it, but it won't change the fact that google knows that. I really dislike the fact that I don't know how they guess that I shared something.

Actually that's not exactly the case : I didn't share that link on google+, or twitter, or facebook. I only mentioned it in a post on DC.

That's what is bugging me : it isn't at all something I shared. Google seems to knew that my domain name belong to me and that a link to my domain is something I shared. Anyone could have linked to my website, how did google knows that was me ?

Being logged into gmail shouldn't make a difference on DC because there is nothing that point to google there (I checked that ). Google shouldn't be able to send data to google from DC except that I use google chrome but that would require chrome to send data to google to check for every page I go. That seems very evil to me.

I think you're not aware of the new changes in their privacy policy and new account management features. They used gmail contacts to send random G+ invitations to people last year. That is how I got invite from G+ from one of my friend who never shared anything on G+ but randomly system sent email to check one of his post to all his friends, post that never existed to begin with.

Google now diggs into G+, Reader, docs, gmail, contacts and calendar data to know more about you. Note that even if you delete google account, analytics will keep on logging data from X IP address and will continue to collect data.

Your google search while you're logged into the system will be based on your G+ circle, your friends activity in Gmail, search and G+. I shared a screenshot in google+ thread you can check out how annoying it is to have search influenced by friends and family.

If you have shared emmanuelcaradec.com all instances of it become "shared". Google's method doesn't distinguish site folder, subdirectories, etc. Not at this point any way.

The moment this went live all my site's older reviews became shared too eventhough they were written way before Google+ existed.

Terrible, it looks that Google is at everywhere, as long as you leave some clue on Internet then you will be analyzed or even followed by it.  :tellme:

Google knows everything.
The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
