Quotidian Folders 1.4.2.2
« on: January 24, 2012, 08:38 PM »
Quotidian Folders 1.4.2.2 Hotkey for folders you use every day.

There's only one Hotkey.  Control Right Click. If done in an Explorer window, selected folders are added to the list.  If Open On Click option is enabled, they will also be opened immediately.

If you Control Right Click on the Desktop, a List with the folders you added pops up near the mouse.

See Readme and About MsgBox for particulars.  But that's about all there is to it.

To remove items select them in the ListView and press the Delete Button.

As usual, it's free for you to use at your own risk. Donations appreciated.

Quotidian Folders 1.0.3.0 Made ListView font a bit easier to read.

Note: UNC paths are not supported. See Readme.txt.

Edit: download now includes source and custom icon.
 I used AutoHotkey_L 1.1.05.06 to compile.

Quotidian Folders 1.0.3.3 Resized ListView and font a bit so that clicking the vertical scroll arrow moves the row by the correct height.  Row text no longer appears chopped.

So, does this make sense in times of Windows 7 where you can stick your half dozen of folders wherever you feel like?

What if you want to use more than a 1/2 dozen?

Quotidian Folders 1.1.0.0 Now folders are staggered after opening.

I use 1280x1024 resolution.  The x and y stagger delta changes when > 9 folders are opened.  But the source is included if you wish to tune it to your monitor. If you have a multi-monitor setup you may wish to change the code that uses _GetDesktopWorkArea() to use other APIs that take multiple monitors into account.

Then use the desktop. I don't keep shortcuts on mine.

So you add shortcuts because you don't want to add shortcuts?  :D
Now that's pointless.

So is this conversation. If you don't want to use my programs, don't download them.

Not at all. I write these for my own use. If others like to use them it makes it more fun to do them.  W7 does have some features that obviate the need for some of my utilities. But I use 3 flavors of Windows and i like to have utilities that work the same on all 3.

Also I learn from getting them to work. There are free "folder near the mouse" utilities I could download. But I wanted to get one to work myself using AHK.  :)

Quotidian Folders 1.2.0.0 Removed the DelayFactor setting. Now the windows are placed as soon as they are active. The response should be snappier and more reliable.

Quotidian Folders 1.2.1.0 Double click handler waits longer for folder window to activate. This should avoid missed window placement on double click opens.

Quotidian Folders 1.3.0.0 Added Icons to Tray Menu. Minor code adjustments.

Download includes AHK_L source and custom icons if you wish to tweak it yourself.

Note that you need to use AutoHotkey_L for tray menu item icon support. The icons are also stored in the exe.  Any icons missing from the install folder will be generated on program run.

Quotidian Folders 1.4.0.0 Now includes a separate exe for embedded Tray Menu Icons. If QF detects any missing icons on startup, it calls QF_IconInst.exe to self extract the tray icons. This saves a small amount of memory.  QF.exe does not have to contain the embedded icons while sitting in the tray.

Quotidian Folders 1.4.2.1
« Reply #22 on: February 10, 2017, 08:41 AM »
Quotidian Folders 1.4.2.1  I updated the link in first post to my new page.  I also updated the links in the program so that "visit hotkey page" and "donate" commands in the tray menu will go to the correct web page.

Note that similar to other Explorer Folder utilities I have done, the folder option "show full path in title bar" should be enabled.  It simply copies to the clipboard to get the folder path.  Shell objects such as Computer, Recycle Bin etc. are not supported.  Although once the Mouse Menu is open, clicking the Open Button with nothing selected opens Computer.

The idea of this utility is to make folders that are a pain to get to such as deeply nested folders, more accessible.  If the Tray Menu option Open On Click is enabled Control Right Click on folders will open them immediately as well as adding them to the Mouse Menu.  Control Right Click an empty spot on Desktop to open the Mouse Menu near the mouse cursor.

As you add folders to the menu you may want to delete those no longer of interest to keep the list short.
