Links Checker from eml files
« on: August 26, 2011, 03:38 PM »
I would like :

1 ) a internet links checker to make certain a link goes to a web or a server in internet that exist and is not fallen.

2) Able to examine an eml file looking for links and trying to determine what are dead or broken links.

3) Make this in an automated way showing the results.

4) Any program doing all this or part of the previous targets

Best Regards

Is for checking emails messages containing links (some thousands....)

I haven't tried it, but AM-DeadLink from Aignesberger Software?
AM-DeadLink detects dead links and duplicates in browser bookmarks and text files. If a bookmark has become unavailable you can verify and delete it permanently. Additionally you can download FavIcons for all your Favorites and Bookmarks.

AM-DeadLink is Freeware!

AM-DeadLink can check the following resources:

    * Internet Explorer Favorites
    * Firefox 3.x bookmarks
    * Opera bookmarks
    * Chrome bookmarks
    * HTML files
    * URLs from tab delimited text files
    * URLs from comma separated text files

I don't know of an extractor at present, though.

 ;D

I was trying a few moments ago .

xenu link
http://home.snafu.de...tilman/xenulink.html

Am-DeadLink is perfect for bookmarks or favourites.

For webmasters is perfect :
http://sourceforge.n...rojects/linkchecker/

Xenu is strange for me because can work with a txt file including url's, but seems that not only analyzes the url and besides the links included. The more powerful I think for the initial purpose.

I was trying a few moments ago [...] Am-DeadLink is perfect for bookmarks or favourites.
The Web site says it can accept tab-delimited or comma-separated text files, so I thought of it as a two-step process, first extract the links and paste them into a file, then run AM-Deadlink.  I couldn't quickly find a freeware that would extract links from EML files, though Google found some payware ones.

You might find Gizmo's Best Free Web Site Link Checker interesting.  Doesn't mention AM-Deadlink, but includes some others, plus free Web services.

I've no idea how hard it would be, but it's worth suggesting a coding snack.  If it is hard, it can always be ignored  :)  As I said, Google found some payware ones.

It's not hard at all.  An EML file is simple plain-text.
