IDEA: Develop a WordPress plugin to take OpenMenu to the next stage

OpenMenu is a xml format food menu system. They released a WordPress plugin here: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=23894.0

I'd like to propose a WordPress plugin that takes uses the openmenu data to provide a food takeout ordering system.

You could use the openmenu plugin (linked above) as a starting point, or you could take
the data from http://openmenu.com, there is an xml feed

If you look at http://www.opendining.net/m/ (you may need a smartphone for this link to work properly - see screenshot as an alternative) this is the kind of thing I'm thinking of, except for a specific Openmenu menu.
You browse the food menu, adding items. Then you go to a check out where you give your name and phone number and are told how much you will need to pay. The order is then sent to the restaurant and the customer gets a reference. The rest of the process is offline (customer goes to restaurant, pays and collects their order).

At this point I do not want online payment to be necessary, but of course this would probably add to the usefulness of the software.

There is already a company who is doing this with connecting an OpenMenu to an online ordering solution.  The company, Open Dining Network, is providing an online ordering platform that is OpenMenu Compliant.  They are the company who you should be discussing your requirements with as they do provide white-label solutions.
