Chris,

The two line feeds you see after "Two quick comments:" and the bulleted items are not a part of the list. The tag to start the list is immediately before the first bulleted item and the end-list tag is immediately after the second bulleted item. The only way to move the image down and not have it almost on top of the list was to enter the period on each line.

I seriously doubt that this will help as I'm sure that you've explored all possibilities. Just as a long shot, however, here's an image of a post with a list, an attachment, some blank lines, and the code that generated it for me.

I remember there being similar problems with tables. blank line following:

there is a blank line preceeding this one (I see this blank line gets lost)
