SOLVED: desktop icon placement Save/Restore
« on: January 23, 2011, 08:42 PM »
I've made Icon Restore part of my standard desktop - I love it.  It let's me save desktop icon positions, and should they get re-arranged (resolution change, auto-align, etc.), I'm able to restore the icon placement.  However, it doesn't work in Windows 7.  It sure would be nice to have this functionality in Win 7!

You might want to try DeskSave. I have not tried it on Windows 7 however, but I have used it for quite awhile and have had no issues with it.

Stardock Fences also is great freeware utility for saving and restoring desktop icons, plus it has extra features you might like  :) It works fine in Windows 7 and earlier. (There is also a "Pro" version.)
