SOLVED: webcam activity detection
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:59 AM »
I had an idea that would sort of add on to the functionality of the Noise program. The idea is to tie in to a webcam via usb (or ip?) and have it keep the screen active so that the screensaver doesn't start up when there is movement or if the screensaver is running, it would stop when a user enters the area.
It would be useful to have a grid that is selectable so that you can easily ignore parts of the webcam area that are expected to be in motion or don't matter. (ie If there's a window in the viewing area) Also, adjustable sensitivity.....

I haven't tried it, but recently I came across iSpy. According to the website:
Run any program or send an email or SMS alert when movement or sound is detected.
