Simple E-Mail Client
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:12 PM »
I use Thunderbird for my personal e-mail.  I am involved in my homeowner association .  We are using Yahoo Mail.   I want to be able to send an e-mail to 195 people, which will show up  to each of them as undisclosed recipients. But I want to be able to do this by entering  one ( 1)  group name in the  send to:  ( I realize I have to set this up  first )

I do not want to use Thunderbird, even with a separate profile.   I don't need a lot of bells and whistles.

Thanks

Lew

As far as I know GMAIL will do this using the BCC field.

Not sure what the limit on the number of email addresses is though.

Update - found this on limits http://mail.google.c...=en&answer=22839

Take a look at the free version of G-Lock EasyMail.

This lets you send out personalized individual email messages to names on a group list.

Versions info: http://www.glocksoft...em/emdifferences.htm

Personalized Email Delivery

With our newsletter mailing software you can send personalized messages to every recipient using the powerful Merge feature. It is an exquisite way to generate new orders from existing customers. This is also the most efficient means to make contact with your clients, one that will bring you much satisfaction.

And furthermore, you can preview how the Merge feature works right in G-Lock EasyMail to ensure that a personalized message for each recipient looks like you expect.

Be careful when using a lot of BCC addresses. First-time spammers love to do that. Many servers will assume it's junkmail and automatically dump it if there are too many BCCs.

There was some discussion about that issue in this thread:

You don't necessarily have to use Yahoo to send your messages.

You can send from any email account you're allowed to send from.

When you send, just set the association's Yahoo email account as the return or "reply to" address in your email client and you should be all set. That way, any replies get sent back to the regular association inbox.

Thanks.  I'm looking into G Lock.  I want to set up something that when I'm not doing this the next person can just take over the program and all.

G Lock Easy mail looks good.  I tried a simple 3 person group and lo and behold each recipient  ONLY had his name - even better than ' Undisclosed recipients "
I guess that is because it is designed for mass mailings
And of course you are correct whe nyou  said I send from any account I am able to.  I of course had to set it up using My SMPT.

But I think this fits the bill  Thank you.
I knew Donation Coder would steer me in the right direction and  all in less than and hour and a half. !!!! ;D
