a box arrives and out pops Baby Cody
« on: July 13, 2009, 11:04 AM »
i've had a cardboard box sitting here for a few days - it arrived last week but i seemed to have forgotten about it - until today when i thought i could hear a feeble cry for help coming from inside the box. i gave the box a strong shake before opening it, well, you never know what could be inside - more feeble cries for help...

no prizes for guessing who was inside:

How cruel you are! After reporting you to the RSPCC I will email you my address so he knows where he is heading on the next leg of his journey ;)

Have you got any plans for Cody outings?

i don't think there's a proper sign up process at the moment but it's probably worth making a post in this thread if you want BC to visit you.

How about we queue up all the Requestors (REQ) who want the Element of Interest (EoI); then the Current Holder (CH) sends the EoI to the first REQ.

In order to do that the CH contacts the first REQ from the Waiting Queue (WQ) by way of this forum's personal message (PM) system for exchanging routable postal addresses.

Then the CH packs up the EoI, applies proper postage to the package and sends it to the first REQ. The CH then ceases to be CH; only after receiving the package with the EoI inside will the first REQ become CH, vacating the post of the first REQ to the next REQ in the WQ.

The WQ is a simple FIFO queue, which means the REQs will state their interest of becoming CH of the EoI by posting a public message here.

Sound complicated? Check the Joint Routing Protocol, which is even more elaborate and doesn't include postage ;)

that would be a perfect solution - except when i said post a request here i forgot to put the link i was referring to: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=18680.0

so you might have to put your suggestion on that thread, housetier.  :D

Actually I think we need a Baby Cody board where the person being visited posts some photos etc. (and then when he is ready to move on people can bid for the next place to visit ;))

Actually it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a new board with a sticky thread for each country where people can sign up so that BC can do the rounds in each country before moving on (and save on shipping costs).

Also maybe everyone who meets BC in person should make a donation to DonationCoder.com on BC's behalf. It's hard work all this flying around and partying - BC should get a little financial benefit!
