Thanks for the help.
I have now changed the options in timezone to EE HH:mm and am seeing every thing in the 24 hour format.
The log file shows

+ <td><a href="city.html?n=1">Abidjan</a></td><td class="r">Fri 5:44 AM</td><td rowspan="215" class="bb">&nbsp;</td><td rowspan="215">&nbsp; : {1;Abidjan;Fri 5:44 AM</td><td rowspan="215" class="bb">&nbsp;</td><td rowspan="215">&nbsp;[Fri;5;44;AM]} = 6+5+44=-7200
  + <a href="city.html?n=307">Hamburg</a></td><td class="r">Fri 6:44 AM</td><td rowspan="215" class="bb">&nbsp;</td><td rowspan="215">&nbsp; : {307;Hamburg;Fri 6:44 AM</td><td rowspan="215" class="bb">&nbsp;</td><td rowspan="215">&nbsp;[Fri;6;44;AM]} = 6+6+44=-3600
  + <a href="city.html?n=188">Ottawa</a></td><td class="r">Fri 12:44 AM</td> : {188;Ottawa;Fri 12:44 AM</td>[Fri;12;44;AM]} = 6+0+44=-25200
  + <td><a href="city.html?n=2">Abu Dhabi</a></td><td class="r">Fri 9:44 AM : {2;Abu Dhabi;Fri 9:44 AM[Fri;9;44;AM]} = 6+9+44=7200
  + <a href="city.html?n=38">Hamilton (Bermuda)</a></td><td class="r">Fri 1:44 AM :

which is the format in "timeanddate"  and is being transformed correctly  by timezone.
Thanks again for the plugin

Hmmm. I installed this plugin today, and it comes up with the times OK in [E HH:mm Country-City] format, but some timezones seem to be 12 hours short - i.e., when it should be 23:55hrs the display is 11:55 (that's A.M., not P.M.).

I have used "The Personal World Clock" at timeanddate.com for a few years now, and that always displays these timezones correctly, so the problem would seem to be elsewhere - e.g., (I guess) in the plugin's interpretation of the time.

Any ideas?

What is your setting at  "The Personal World Clock"?
Mine was originally 24hr. After I changed to 12hr am/pm the plugin worked correctly.

@dortom: Thanks for your suggestion, but I don't think that's it.
I Login to access my "Personal World Clock" - i.e., the one I have configured/set up.
The FARR plugin does not Login to it. The plugin just accesses timeanddate.com.
In any event, my Personal World Clock is currently configured to show A.M./P.M., though I have previously tried it with 24-hour display.

I have also changed the plugin display from 12 to 24-hour, but it makes no difference  - it's still 12 hours out on some timezones, including my "home" zone (New Zealand), which is GMT+12hrs.

Just reporting that I still can't get this plugin to work properly.
It has to be a bug in the time calculation as it persists in being exactly 12 hours off.
I would make a guess that it is not picking up my system's regional time setting correctly.
Have therefore de-installed the plugin.
Below is a screenshot of the plugin as at 1726hrs (NZ local time).

Hey IainB, sorry I didn't read this earlier.

If you're interested in following this up, can you turn logging on, download and attach the log file.

Thanks

@Perry Mowbray: Logging was already turned on, but I cannot see anything resembling a log file in the directory
C:\...\FindAndRunRobot\Plugins\FARRTimeZone

What is the filename and extension of the log file supposed to be please?
WHERE (i.e., what directory) is it supposed to be?

Thanks.

Should be in FindAndRunRobot\Plugins\TimeZone\Data\log.txt

All good. Can I get you to try this version for me: * timezone.zip (673.68 kB - downloaded 680 times.)

I've included all the possible time formats that TimeAndDate.com use... but this is the odd thing: timeanddate only give me the 12 hr am/pm, but you have 12 hr a.m/p.m. The only thing I can figure out is that it's based on language defaults  :-\

That works just fine - problem fixed!

Will play around with it a bit and let you know the result.

Must apologize...  it's all a matter of perspective  :-[  when writing this I didn't get the results back in any other time format, so just assumed that that's all they dished up. So it was a bit of a surprise to see the few problems cropping up.

Anyway, it's all good now: the new version should be able to handle anything they throw at it  ;)

Thanks for the testing and feedback, I'll release that fix shortly...

Just updated TimeZone to 1.2.2. For those users who use dcUpdater TimeZone should update automatically. If you need to install fresh the zip file is in the first post.

This update fixes the downloader that wasn't configured to work with all the time formats that TimeAndDate.com were dishing up. Each time they dished up the times for me it was in AM/PM format, but thanks to IainB it finally dawned that my perspective wasn't the only one!

@Perry Mowbray: Thanks. I did promise to report back. TZ seems to be working correctly on the main timezones I am interested in (see screenshot below). As you can see from the The Personal World Clock page (timeanddate.com), I am interested in checking up to 11 time zones, so a max of 5 in TZ is OK but not ideal (for my needs).

Thanks for a great plugin, and thanks for fixing it so swiftly.

Thanks: appreciate it... funny: never thought they'd be serving up different formats, though it was obvious after a careful reading  :-[

Do you want to give this a go: * TimeZone_1.3.0.zip (344.08 kB - downloaded 659 times.)? Up to 11 Favourites can be set.

Thanks for a great plugin, and thanks for fixing it so swiftly.

All good (and good fun). Let me know if that works for you, What I think I'll do (when I get a bit more time) is make the number for favourites flexible so you can have any number (within reason).

@Perry Mowbray: Wow! Many thanks!
Now I can have all 11 time zones displayed. I haven't needed more than that in a while.
Much better using TZ - zero tediousness. Otherwise I would have to go to timeanddate.com, then login BEFORE I can select and view my personal clock.

For some reason all cities show the current time from my own timezone... Happens with both 1.2.2 and 1.3 using latest FARR on XP sp3

Is this new?

Can you attach you log file for me (from \FindAndRunRobot\Plugins\FARRTimeZone\Data\log.txt)? It's going to be a language thing  :(

If you hurry... I'm about to release an updated settings programme that will handle any number of Favourites.

Not sure if it's new, but I suspect it is. You see I haven't really used TZ in a while, so just let DCU do its thing with updates... Anyway, this happens with a freshly downloaded TZ as well. May have something to do with my computers's time settings? Log is attached

You know, if everyone spoke English there wouldn't be any of these problems... there'd also be no interesting languages... ;)

Nothing to do with you computer, it's what timeanddate.com is dishing up to you and TZ's inability to interpret other languages.

good news is I've got TZ going back to language school for some intensive training... shouldn't be too long  :)

At some stage TimeAndDate.com started detecting your language and setting their language to suit. Didn't realize till I started investigating your problem: but I'm surprised that there has not been more issues (maybe all users are English speakers?).

Can you please try version 1.3.1: * timezone.zip (679.64 kB - downloaded 420 times.)

I'm pretty sure that I've solved that problem. I've been downloading in all sorts of interesting languages without problems (I've actually almost posted two previous fixes for this, but I kept figuring out better alternatives... now it should be fully automatic).

This version also removes the 5 Favourite limit, it's now flexible up to 50... so you can almost have as many as you like!!

Can you please test this version and let me know if it fixes your problem?

Thanks Iain: I'm glad you like it... it's always nice to add a bit of spit and polish to something that's already (mostly) working  :)

So you've installed 1.3.1 and using it without problems? I'm just waiting for a bit of feedback before releasing it through dcUpdater...
