Ok... that's way beyond f'd up. I get the joke... but stuff like that should just be a joke and not reality. Just... wow.

^ I know I'm not chancing it.  Not sure if it should be left linked if there is a warning...

I'm not clicking either. But in all fairness, I've seen those warnings on perfectly safe pages in the past.

I put the warning in to give fair warning. I didn't have any trouble with the page, but then I use 2 anti-virus programs and Sandboxie(Yes, one of them is Malwarebytes). But if you do clickthrough and get sucked into the Twilight Zone, don't blame me.

And I decided to look at it, and MS Sec E didn't say anything at all, and neither did PaleMoon's internal lists of pages.

But A-H, how do you use two AV programs? I thought those kinds of programs end up fighting each other.

Ok... that's way beyond f'd up. I get the joke... but stuff like that should just be a joke and not reality. Just... wow.

This is very off-topic for this thread, but if you follow the source links, you'll see an interesting game of "Telephone" happening where the story gets further and further from the truth with each rewrite. By the time The Mary Sue got to it, it was already pretty distorted. (Also, what's with "news" outlets citing other "news" outlets as their only source?)

Here are some quotes from comments on various sites:

The Daily Mail says she was just surfing the web, she didn’t have enough money for a motel so hung out in the internet café. Also she gave birth in the bathroom stall not near the computers. There are surveillance images of her coming out of the toilets.
-pdragon57

From what I get from the Chinese source, my read of the situation would be: she had a fight with her family that caused her to leave home to travel to another province, then her money got stolen. Internet cafes are open through the night, and the birth took place at four in the morning - I suspect she went there more for a cheap place to stay than to satisfy her gaming/internet addiction.

The details surrounding the birth (it took place in a toilet, she was shaking, she refused to wash the blood of her hands) sound pretty terrible, that's why I suspected she might have suffered from some kind of shock or breakdown, which might explain why she sat down in front of the computer again and appeared calm (admittedly, I'm no psychiatrist).

So there is probably some combination of factors that made her refrain from going to the hospital until it was too late - e.g. she had no money, she had a fight with her family, she was in a foreign town.

All in all, I feel bad for her and hope she and her child will be alright.

I dunno, I think it "threatens" to be on topic, (been watching too many chess lectures lately!), because a big chunk of Silly Humor comes from these telephone games.

And as for "what's with "news" outlets citing other "news" outlets as their only source?", that's how low budget low quality "news" works - something pops up on someone's radar, and they smash it out because Timelines Are King in the viral news age. And "someones" are getting past the old quasi effort in journalism to produce a legit story, somehow changing the culture, because ClickBait Works, and there's little or unfocused downside to not writing these things compared to a balanced story. So you get the 21st century rehash of the "quality sites get a smaller smarter audience", and the even more rabid hordes just like their clickbait because they can enjoy an hour exclaiming to their friends "would you believe this?!".

I installed both so that I could scan downloads with both and they seem to co-exist peacefully. Maybe I psychically hack them. Don't tell anyone or I will be forced to wipe your memory of that.

I guess it ain't just Elvis who lives on.  James Dean works on the web now.  I heard when the .se domain was taken he screamed "You're tearing me apart!"  :)

It was a rehearsal. Unless you were talking about the later performance. Also, this is silly humor.

Don't feel like learning to code but want to work in the programming industry? Too dumb or lazy to learn but you look damn good? AND you're female? Here's a job JUST for you.

Alibaba actually posted this job for a “stunning” woman to motivate programmers

Chinese internet powerhouse Alibaba has taken down a job posting that sought a woman to fill the role of “programmer encouragement specialist.” It was just as bad as that sounds.

The ad, which first appeared on Alibaba’s website on April 29, said the “specialist” would join the team of dingtalk, an Alibaba-backed messaging app. It compared the ideal candidate to both Japanese porn star Sora Aoi and Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.

After coverage in the Chinese press with snarky headlines like “Beautiful women mean productivity!” (link in Chinese) and backlash on social media, Alibaba took the ad down from its job board. Responding to Quartz’s inquiries, an Alibaba group spokesperson said the ad “was intended to be an attempt at humorous marketing to recruit IT talent.”

Follow the link for the full text of the ad.

no warnings for me. Maybe I am not well protected?
To me, the linked page was only mildly entertaining! But of course, I have no children (because I really am well protected!) and no parents alive, so...
