Firefox Extensions: Your favorite or most useful

Just a quick plug for ReadItLater.

An absolute must-have. Especially since FF seems intent on breaking Canaware's brilliant NetNotes something like every other time FF updates itself. 

Also props to the previously mentioned Lazarus. It's been more than once a long post of mine made it to DC's forum because of that add-on. I'm not the sort of person who will rewrite a couple of hundred words if something glitched when I went to post them.

About this Add-on
Bookmark Highlighter does what it says on the tin. Text links are highlighted with a blue background, and image links are highlighted with a dotted blue outline. This is a simple and effective way to see what's bookmarked among a sea of links.

Something else you may be able to make use of:
Removing Java Console Extension (Firefox)

We mentioned the Java Console Extension as one of those extensions that a program (in this case Oracle’s Java) installs into Firefox without the user’s knowledge. Unless you are a Java Developer, this extension serves no real purpose for most Firefox users. Many users find they have multiple Java Console extensions and some (or all) are disabled. However, there is no way to remove the extension(s) via the Firefox add-ons manager. A long time ago we posted on how to remove the extension and thought it may be a good idea to post it again.Especially since some users may want to perform a little housekeeping on their Firefox profile before they update to the next version.

I have followed these instructions and deleted the offending files. When FF restarts the extensions are no longer there.

I just found this tip. It's not an AddOn but a method to use your search plugins from the address bar like you can in chromium based browsers:

For example you can add the keyword "scr" to the Scroogle plugin.  To do a search using scroogle from the address bar you would do
scr search term

Then you can pull the search box down until the next time you want to add plugins.

I recently updated Java to 6.0.29, and then that console and Java Console 6.0.26 were both in my extension list.  I was able to uninstall 6.0.26 using the Firefox context menu for that extension (neither "Uninstall" nor "Disable" were greyed out).

Are we talking about the same thing here?

Curt, I have Lazarus 2.3 [646] on my computer with Firefox 8.0.1 and it works fine.  I've never tried the Beta.  In general, I stay away from Betas unless there's a compelling reason to try one, and I had no compelling reason with Lazarus.  I'm under the impression that the Beta is of most interest to people who use the Chrome browser, which I do not.

Thank you, diva. I think I now remember why I removed Lazarus in the first place; I have a very stable connection and normally have no use for Lazarus. Except now my Firefox has begun not answering for several seconds, so I thought I better install Lazarus before I need it ;-)

Curt, I too usually have a very stable connection, but too often I've had the experience (though not on Donation Coder) of sending a message to a forum or a blog and not having it appear for one reason or another, or I push the wrong button by mistake and my message goes off into the misty purple, never to be seen again--except by Lazarus.    It has saved my bacon enough times that I've donated to the developer.

Curt, I see you are discussing Findbar Basics from way back in 2009. I have since moved on to the more versatile and configurable Find Toolbar Tweaks v3.0:

I have since moved on to the more versatile and configurable Find Toolbar Tweaks v3.0:

I switched to Findbar Tweak which has some nice features, but it messed up the layout on some pages.

Odd of you to say that as it works just fine here, but....I'm not running nearly as many extensions as I used to so maybe there's a conflict with another extension you are running?

Are there still any users of Mr Tech Toolkit?

I have been using it on 32-bit Firefox for quite some years, but now I am on 64-bit Waterfox and I simply cannot get Toolkit to work as it used to. "Open in RegEdit" is an addon that will work just fine in whatever version of Firefox you are running, but Waterfox refuses to install it, even though Mr Tech should make it happen.

But Toolkit has many options, so maybe I have forgotten the proper setting? Can you direct me?

Browser-Switch Shortcuts for Firefox and SeaMonkey
