Is this funny

[Fred Nerd]

I was talking to someone on Windows Live Messenger and made the following joke. She didn't think it funny, so I said I'll post it on a tech forum and see what they say,
so whats the verdict:

After another dropped message I said:
I want Bill Gate's head, on a silver platter.....
.....with an Apple in his mouth.

Should she dump me for bad humour?

[mitzevo]

She should dump you for you not knowing what she finds funny

I've heard this kind of argument before... "after all these years you don't know x,y, or z about me".

You're on dangerous ground, FredNerd! Oh, hang on, just a friend, not a significant other. Not so precarious, then...

FWIW, I thought the joke was amusing. Not outright funny, perhaps, but amusing...

But now you're reformed, I hope.  Quickly, her favourite flower is?

That's just cruel. The sad irony is that I've been caught out on this one before

Should she dump me for bad humour?

Or maybe vice-versa?

I can understand your attempt a making a joke. More droll than funny perhaps, but no harm in that.

I'm just not sure I can understand her reaction to it.

Why not invite her login to DC and give us some insight?

[cranioscopical]

Why not invite her login to DC

Merciful heavens, what relationship could survive that!?!

Come to think of it, some of our posts here would make Fred Nerd's look positively scintillating

I dunno, my Lady seems to like DC.

Her assessment was: "Pretty cool. The people there seem to be nice."

But then again, maybe she's atypical. She works for the government, so she has the ability to wade through buzzword blizzards, jargon infested paperwork jungles, and the occasional acronymic thicket without suffering injury or illness. And the ability to deal with utter nonsense is part of her job description.

Maybe we should start a new thread to find out what our significant others think about this "thing" we do?

On second thought, cancel that. Silly suggestion. What was I thinking?

[Fred Nerd]

Thanks for help,

it isn't dangerous at all, we are just friends, at the moment anyway, haven't know each other long.

But maybe it is interesting subject for all us young singles: can a relationship survive where one person is geeky, and the other can't understand why you use the Start button to turn a computer off....?

BTW, I think I'll tell her she was right: it wasn't funny. Sort of win-when you-lose scenario.

Why waste a perfectly good Apple?!?
I vote for shoving the Linux Penguin in his pie hole.

[Fred Nerd]

Quick, where is a Linux patriot?...... Someone needs FLAMING....

Besides, how many pigs are served with penguins in their mouths?

Anything done to increase the annoyance in Bill Gates' life is worth while. Even if it means sacrificing a penguin....

Only if you have seperate computers.

It's a good thing men can ignore things like the lack of a sense of humor in a relationship, there are other attributes we can appreciate like their... ugh... eyes!

We live in a wacky world.  CoverGirl Cosmetics' new model is . . . . .  Ellen Degeneres.
Only funny thing about her is that waddle she calls a "dance".
