LOL, the obvious answer is that the only way they can meet and avert destruction is in the 10th dimension

The track has to go around lots of mountains and things.... adding to the length of the track. :D

Enter 3D-based Captcha:
news.cnet.com - 3D-based Captchas become reality

Can be tried here, for example:
YUNiTI.com - registration

That one isn't too bad.

Not too bad for humans, but I'd suspect very simple for computers also in it's current implementation.

What I want to know is, what happened to the "read it aloud" feature? I haven't seen it lately. Now they're really discriminating against people with impaired vision.

And now, companies are using it for all kinds of things - I had to do one to submit a tech support form last night.
Now really, what spammer is going to select required answers for 10 drop-down fields, anyway? Stupid.

The worst part about that is that some are actually like that.

I wonder how much time man kind has lost in total when people are forced spend time to decipher some text and put it in a box?

Ask your local mail man and extrapolate from there  ;)

Are you implying that my mail man reads my mails that are in klingon?

He's probably enterprising enough to do so.

But normally I like when they use ASCII:

Lately, I'm getting sick of just about everything on the web.  :-\

Anybody else starting to feel like that?

Yep.

I think we spend too much time in front of a screen though, and that probably jades us a bit more than normal people.

I share the resentment towards having to go through so many of these. Worst of all are forums that both have really hard captchas (often rotated similar letters like lL1i oO0) and that reset ALL entered information when there is some minor error when clicking submit.

+1, and Amen!

...the first thing you should notice about this is that it has clearly been designed to be almost impossible to crack, by someone who knows nothing about cracking captchas.

Captcha's are like software security, if you don't know what you're doing you're just wasting everyone's time.

Hahaha, wonderful quote :D

I hope at least the person designing the captcha had fun.
