there was a similar thread just like this recently and i suggested Atlantis Nova..

a free version of Atlantis Nova would do the trick.. you have to google for it though as the developers no longer keep the free version on their website..

I tried all of the editors people suggested. Again, thanks to all who contributed to the thread! After working with the various editors for a couple of days, I decided that Atlantis best fit my needs, though PolyEdit was a close second. If any of you are interested in an editor that can handle rtf and text files very well, I would suggest you take a look at these programs. A screen shot of Atlantis is shown below basically in the default configuration.

Nice choice - looks very feature rich and nicely laid out... I *guess* I'll have to take a look, too!

Ok, but if you spend money on it, DON'T BLAME ME! Seriously, it's a really fantastic editor Darwin. I think you will like it - a lot.

Ken - don't worry about me blaming you if I spend money on it. I'd be more worried about my wife, if I were you. I have a low threshold for pain and would probably sell you out before she even broke a mental sweat, let alone a physical one. Be afraid. Be very afraid  :o

PS have downloaded, but not yet installed, the last freeware version. You're safe for now, Ken!
