Committee work
« on: December 06, 2007, 10:29 AM »
From today's INQUIRER headlines
INQ page
Boggers form corporate bog council.

If that goes the way of most such committees
First there'll be a sitting...
Then a report...
Then the matter will be dropped.

One of my favorite computerisms goes:

"If computers ever get too powerful, we should organize them into committees.  That will be their undoing."

Or perhaps they've decided that it's time to shit or get off the pot?

I find it amusing that these large organizations find it necessary to form a COMMITTEE to make suggestions about how blogging should work for them.  Blogging, is by its very nature, a personal thing.  Otherwise it's just a disconnected series of press releases.

I suppose they do it to avoid embarrassing situations like that one that happened with Google months ago, when a worker charged against "Sicko" (we commented it here in a long, interesting thread), or those other employees who make radical statements about their company while using the corporate blog.

Corporate blogs, by its very nature, tend to be quite boring and they read like a press release. A personal blog of a worker, like the ones hosted at MSDN blogs, for example, is something very different (thankfully).

(Why press releases have not been casted away from the face of Earth? They're so amusing... nobody believes them ;D)
