Clipstep & Clipseek
« on: November 04, 2007, 06:40 PM »
Attached is new Clipstep MOD and Clipseek program which seem virtually finished
(synopsis below)
If you have time to look at the README file and have any thoughts on use/improvements, let me know

Synopsis:

RE:   CLIPSTEP (ClipSeek)

I am now attaching the LATEST modified CLIPSTEP and NEW CLIPSEEK
programs.

CLIPSTEP is a modified version of Skrommel's Clipstep, which is a clipboard extension app which only uses [Control]+v and [Control]+c and [Control]+x to allow clips to be stored as .CLIP files, and allows selection of stored clips for Re-Pasting.
It is now modified to work with CLIPSEEK, a new program (modified form of Seek from Phi) which has two different modes of operation:

CLIPSEEK CLIP Mode:
  - Displays large table of clipboard CLIPs and shows Clip content
  - Predefine a Permanent directory for preconfigured applications to store clips
  - Allows Selection criteria to preselect clips, many modes offered
  - Provides alternative Pasting options and other functions
  - Can add comments to individual clips, mark clips to preserve/display at top of list etc.

CLIPSEEK Directory Mode:
  - Displays (Recursed) list of files (and directories), and shows contents/properies/icons for common file-types and common grahics.
  - Allows Selection criteria for filename AND contents to preselect files for display, many modes offered.
  - Can preconfigure settings for Active programs/Apps/extensions, which are automatically selected by ClipSeek when run, or can be manually selected, once .ini is modified.
  - Various display options
  - Allows files to be run (if File association exists)/ or Directories to be selected.
  - Can allow MS Word (2000) Document (and RTF and other files) to be listed with block of contents, on which Selective search can restrict list, to aid file selection, and run MSWORD with selected file(s).
  - Allows listing of Apps (Link files etc) in StartMenu and StartMenuCommon, to search for and run required application.

For full function, download Filscrpt.zip (see below) and place files in subdir to main
clipstep directory called \!Filscrpt

Clipseek updated for better Viewer flexibility. Also, using external console programs to display PDF,CHM,HTML,HTM,ZIP,RAR etc. Details in helpfile. If someone could offer an ahk routine for above filetypes or others, I can incorporate it. Note though that for speed clipseek limits display in table to 900 chars, or 10000 chars in viewer.

This works really well, I have installed the Nov 25 version at work as a lightweight multi-copy multi-paste tool
Although the clips do tend to multiply...

Hi,

I was just looking at skrommel's TimeStamp program which you have been enhancing.

I'd like to have to hand two sorts of dates

1.  year-month-day, as the first part of what I name files.  e.g.  071231 let autoinsurer (that is, yyMMdd - 6 keystrokes)

2.  day of the week, then day month and year, to put the date (I'm not N. American) into letters.  e.g.  Monday 31 December 2007  (that is, Dddd d Mmmm  yyyy - 23 keystrokes for that date, inc spacebar hits)

Quick thoughts
a.  If all I need is to copy a few keystrokes, each day, I suppose I do not need TimeStamp.  Alls I need do is write them out once and copy them to Clipstep
b.  ...but might it be possible to add this feature to Clipstep?  You have added a feast of features (which I have yet to absorb, I admit) and I just wonder if I could add these, as clip 1 and clip 2, there each day for me,
c.  I notice that TimeStamp does as it should in letting you click on the date you want, in the app, then right mouse click and use paste to insert the date.  What it will not do is get Clipstep to recognise the copy-to-clipboard command that TimeStamp did so that you can paste by using the control-v command, which is what I would do whereever possible.  Is this an oversight in the way Clipstep is written

1st off,
Some of the more major MODS performed in the last update produced
some odd minor bugs which with this update, are now corrected
Use attached ZIP file instead of previous - its faster in some fns. as well!

Regarding query about TimeStamp, Im not familiar with that prog. When I get a moment Ill download it. If you just want to paste what is currently on the clipboard, Right-click the Taskbar clipstep icon, and select "Paste clipBd".

This beta (clipseek) includes some bug-fixes and enhancements, e.g.
1. remaining GUISize Setup error corrected.
2. Selection History panel (Combo box) now extended to
include "clip" mode and other MODS
3. In response to query about Skrommels TimeStamp program,
although clpsrch.ini contained a "clipBlock" key under "Settings"
     to restore normal clipboard function
(and keys restored: Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V to normal)
NEW Hotkeys are now able to toggle clipstep "Clip" functions
     without editing the .ini file:

[RightCtrl]-C, -X or -V   :  Normal Copy,Cut,Paste functions
                                    (ClipBoard)
[LeftCtrl]-[RightAlt]-C:   Toggle Clip functions (clpBlock).
If ON: restores normal function to keys:
                                      Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V

If ON: restores normal function to keys:
                                      Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V

Also ClipBock is now an menu entry if Taskbar Clipstep icon is Right-clicked.
The permanent startup default remains as set in the clpsrch.ini file.
Note: Must EXIT clipstep before editing ini file. o/w clipstep may write to ini file while it is being edited.

.. and other bits and pieces

This beta (clipseek) includes some major bug-fixes and enhancements.
Since the exchange of a simple ListBox to a ListView display on the "General" Tab, the clipstep mode of clipseek needed an update, and now that clipseek "Dir" mode is almost complete, this beta is now corrected for clipseek "clip" mode.
The help file has a few additions
