Thanks for all of the encouragement and testing folks -- it makes all the difference in the world.

New version uploaded -- the Webcam capture feature now has 2 buttons -- one for rapidfire capture (just like how you've seen it in the last version), and another that makes it behave like any other capture (that is, it closed after you trigger it and it will show post-capture dialog and add caption or whatever, just as if it was a screenshot).  the webcam capture is also now in the menus and quickcapture bar.

Other improvements: Some additional toolbar buttons (copy to clipboard, choose selection size, resize to preset); more importantly, you can now configure which buttons you dont want to have shown on the toolbar -- this will make it much easier for me to add more buttons without worrying about overloading people.

Now i really want to stop adding features and make this new version official in the next day or so.

thanks dluby, i'll have it show a better message.

You're right -- I'll move it to Capture tab.

Right now it's a bit of a second-class thing because when you "capture" in this way from the webcam, it doesnt get treated like a normal capture -- e.g. the automating post-capture things like emailing, uploading, adding captions, etc., won't get applied to a webcam capture.  And it doesn't appear on the quick capture bar or trigger the post-capture dialog.

I will probably integrate it more like a standard capture mode in a future version.

New version is up (3.27).  You can now make quick captures from webcams -- see top of View menu.  That's a feature i've been meaning to add for a while -- just seems to me SC should be able to capture from any source (screen, scanner, webcam, etc.).

This is the first I remember hearing about this.. Give me a week to get out my major update to Screenshot Captor and then let's get this fixed -- it sounds really annoying and like it has to get fixed.
9831
Ian,

Give me a week or so to finish the marathon of work i've been doing on my Screenshot Captor tool and I will be able to focus on this and talk to you about it.
9832
I'd still like to see this marked as not DONE and moved back to pending, and see what other coding snack coders might come up with.
9833
Interesting.. but you could also just do a shell exec to open a url and it will open in default browser, OR simply invokle an explicit browser exe and pass the url to it on commandline.
9834
I'd like to leave it open -- and see if anyone wants to make a real GUI utility for this -- that will let you save your url list, keep track of visited links, let you click to visit a link, etc.

I think it's a good candidate for a nice coding snack for an amature coder.
9835
I think it's an old bug, but print margins are not saved between sessions.

Should now be fixed.
9836
I'll see if i can't fix the print margins and i'll reply to the captions thing in a bit.

But in the meantime, if you download v3.26 in the last hour or so between when I uploaded and now, please re-download -- I accidentally uploaded a debug build which will run slower than it should.
9837
New update: more fixes.  See first post for details.
9838
neat idea.

It would be pretty easy to make a browser-neutral version that just had a list of urls, where you clicked on to move it to a "Done" list and it opened the url in the default or specified folder.

The only limitation is that it probably wouldn't be able to close the existing tab for you, so you'd have to do that manually.

I like the idea of a browser neutral tool.  There are some fun things you could do with this too, including keeping track of the date that each url was viewed, and maybe some notes associated with it..

Sorry to hear about your injury joiwind -- here's hoping they rebuild you even stronger.

That's not a bug.
Go to the automatic captions tab in options and on the right you will see the setting that says where to put the caption :

9842
I've uploaded a new version which I hope will fix any caption oddities and handle all cases sensibly.
Let me know if you find any caption stuff not being done properly.
9843
Right ok, so i think i see part of the problem.  It looks like when you set some text for the caption in the Automatic Captions tab, AND you have SC configure to auto add captions to every capture, it will NOT add your custom typed text to the caption.

By default the text in the Automatic Captions tab includes "%filememo%" which will already include whatever you type in the post capture dialog, so you see it.  But if you change the text there, you will not.

I think i can fix this.
9844
I've gotten another report of caption misbehavior in the latest version, so it sounds like i really did break something.. now i just have to figure out how to reproduce the bug..

maybe there is some option that messes things up that is not set on default.
9845
Right ok, i gotcha -- sometimes a picture really does speak volumes.

I'll make the popup background match main window, IF I CAN.

Actually now that i read you saying the copy-to-clipboard function also has black bars, i'm thinking that i must do the advanced background removal AFTER the post-capture form -- if so then fixing this is more difficult.. and may have to wait for a future version..
9846
I need clarification on #2 -- can you elaborate?
9847
ps. New version is up with some reorganized menus and a bunch of improved icons from DC member HamRadio.
9848
portable and installed version, all the same.

bubba, i know exactly what you are talking about regarding the funky black selection when doing object selection.
let me ask though -- it does select the right things when you let go of the mouse right?  it's just the display while dragging is confusing right?
9849
Confusing.  i'm not able to reproduce here.  anyone else?
9850
can you should me your "Automatic Captions" tab?
