Deozaan,
I have used the JKDefrag gui from:-
http://www.emro.nl/freeware/
which in turn uses PageDefrag from Sysinternals to defrag the file on reboot
Cant do any harm to defrag it anyways even if you cant check it

btw, when you re-enabled it was it in exactly the same way it was previously enabled?

Contact the Schumannhaus -  Musikbibliothek (Music library), the Robert Schumann Haus - Zwickau, or the Robert-Schumann-Gesellschaft (Schumann Society).

Have you tried the Katalog der Stadtbibliothek Bonn?

Thanks Phil,

I have looked at the Society site and it only seems to refer to Schumann's period in Dusseldorf. Maybe I need to write to them.

The Zwickau site couldn't help (I emailed them)

The other two sites are beyond my German (which is pretty non-existant but I have a tame German teacher ... at least when she gets back off holiday!).

the first & last links there lead to the same place
with a simple search there for Schumann Manfred, I got a list of CD's & musical scores (no definite indication as to whether spoken text included in scores or not)
http://www.lib.bonn....C09&BaseURL=this (cant get direct link to the search)

If you want to contact them with a query I can do a quick & very dirty translation for you - my german is "fluent" (in the sense I can waffle :P) but not necessarily "super" :-\

just in case - (I obviously got a good idea from the list above but I hadnt known about the programme)

What is Chandler? (Chandler as a Product)
Chandler is an open source Note-to-Self Organizer. It features calendaring, task and note management and consists of a desktop application, web application and a free sharing and back-up service called Chandler Hub.

Our goal is to serve the way people actually work, independently and together, particularly in small groups, a market segment we believe is underserved. Our belief is that personal and collaborative information work is by nature iterative and that the existing binary Done/Not-Done, Read/Unread, Flagged/Unflagged paradigm in productivity software poorly accommodates the reality of how people work.

We are also committed to breaking down technological barriers that prevent effective collaboration. Chandler Desktop and Chandler Server are cross-platform and standards-based because we realize that collaboration can't and shouldn't be trapped within a single system. Chandler Server provides web access to shared information that makes it easy for collaborators to hook into Chandler workflows without having to download the Desktop application.

I havent used farrfox plugin since it stopped working,
I made that edit re bookmarks in about:config as recommended in your link
I tried plugin, now seems to be working *
but (only) then I see all those posts on last page saying it's working anyway so not sure what's going on

* but I just created a bookmark from the HackCollege page -

when i'm on dial-up i use the mobile phone version of gmail - http://m.gmail.com

ahh, that works for you
it doesnt work here
We can't provide service under the Gmail name in Germany; we're called Google Mail here instead.

If you're travelling in Germany, you can access your mail at http://mail.google.com.

Oh, and we'd like to link the URL above, but we're not allowed to do that either. Drat.

For general information about Google, please visit www.google.com or www.google.de.

and they dont redirect you to the mobile site
You need to go to http://m.google.com and follow the link there

I'd love to hear if Firefox 3 users can get this tip to work with FarrFox.

[edit] but I had completely missed that you had updated FarrFox plugin -
I hadnt even tried it lately ...
Now I'm not sure what you're asking if the plugin working anyway?

Somehow we ended up talking a lot about beer, at this thread:

so I dont have to feel too bad staying off-topic:

Chezch Czech Republic in english Curt
I think Budweiser(US) was trying to buy out the Czech brewery a couple of years ago so that they could sell their rice brew in Europe
(nothing against rice but ...)
thankfully they failed
Currently Anheuser-Busch cant sell their beer in europe (teehee :))

And if that doesn't do it I watch this (while basking in the warm feeling that there are people in this world who are even more whacked-out than me):

that helped ;)

Living Room / Re: What printer?
« Last post by tomos on August 07, 2008, 02:21 AM »
I wanted to post about a Brother printer/Multifunktiongerät (all-in-one)
Specifically the DCP 130C but I suspect all Brother inkjets may be like this:-
-
They do automatic printhead cleaning every two days, not only that, they do it whether you print or not - if you're using the printer you dont need "cleaning", and, every two days ??? wtf :)
The costs of ink because of this cleaning are simply HUGE -

-
I made the mistake of recommending it to in-laws (it was on sale locally & I just read up a few reviews at the time) - they're looking for a new printer now...

6. Be sure you check out the cost of consumables. Especially ink cartridges. Much like automobiles, the cheapest part of owning a printer is the purchase price of the printer itself. I once went to OfficeMax to buy a color cartridge for a low-end Canon printer my girlfriend owned. I wound up coming home with a whole new Canon printer. It was on sale - and it cost $5 less than the ink cartridge I came to get.  8)
-
Kodak brought out an inkjet printer lately where the ink is cheaper (but you pay a bit more for the printer) havent heard anything else about it since & cant remember the name ... :-[

Any recommendations for a small laser Copier/Printer (I guess that's going to be an all-in-one then too!) ?
9292
ps: if you like minicap and you might check out the FARR alias that works with it, it really does breath some new life into it.

that makes it very accessible to non-commandline types like me :)

This was one of the better articles I've read on the subject because its author delineates people like me who approach an app with design in mind compared to a programmer who's building for function (not form)
coming from the same place as Zaine,
and from the article:
Proprietary software vendors typically make money by producing software that people want to use. This is a strong incentive to make it more usable. (It doesn’t always work: for example, Microsoft, Apple, and Adobe software sometimes becomes worse but remains dominant through network effects. But it works most of the time.)
-
I disagree there, to an extent, - there is the pressure for upgrades to introduce new features (discussed elsewhere here) and the interface & design in general comes a big second I think

if I had enough money (well I do, but it's way down my shopping list), I would change from e.g. Acronis True Image in a shot - even though it seems to be ahead of most similar priced competitors in terms of features ...
it just really bugs me to see a programme at version X - V.#11 in Acronis TI's case and to see an interface that has obviously grown over the years with the programme but little or no obvious priority given to it's ease of use
Let's see, same with most printer drivers, Microsoft OS's, I'm not that familiar with Adobe's more recent stuff so cant comment there but from what I've seen Illustrator could do with a re-write but that's more to do with efficiency/speed than interface in particular.

Ease of use is so important, well, to a lot of us out here. Ironically not so important to bigger companies but to smaller business's / self-employed time is money.
If something takes 10 mouse-clicks when you can see an easy option to make it 2 or 3, that's when I want to jump ship ;)

The feature that comes with Vista Start Menu Pro from Dennis Nazarenko, or almost any other start menu replacement: "Group by Type". Only, I don't know if any of them can export the resulting list

that's a really good idea Curt - anyone want to contact Dennis with that ? -
if there's no takers I'll do it tonight ( I'm trying not to distract myself tooo much from work :) )

Looks great Brandon - love the brush!
